The concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The three bands will present music to be performed at the upcoming Ohio Music Education Association District Band Contest held the following weekend, with the bands receiving on-stage critiques to help them finish their preparation for contest.<\/p>\n<p>The Shawnee Concert Band, under the direction of Dan Meeks, will perform \u201cPan American March\u201d by Karl King, \u201cWithin the Castle Walls\u201d by Brian Balmages, and \u201cCounterbalance\u201d by Randall Strandridge. The band, which regularly receives a \u201csuperior\u201d rating at state contest, will perform at district contest at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 11.<\/p>\n<p>The Shawnee Symphonic Band, under the direction of Patricia Meeks, will perform \u201cWho\u2019s Who in Navy Blue\u201d by John Philip Sousa, \u201cThe Eighth Candle\u201d by Steven Reisteter, and \u201cFantastic Journey\u201d by Erik Morales. The band, which also regularly receives \u201csuperior\u201d ratings at state contest, will perform at district contest at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 12.<\/p>\n<p>The Van Wert Symphonic Band, under the direction of Robert Sloan, will perform \u201cFugue in B-flat Major\u201d by Johan Sebastian Bach, \u201cFantastic Journey\u201d by Erik Morales, and \u201cAnd Then the Ocean Glows\u201d by Satoshia Yagisawa.
