Brumback Library joins libraries in schools, campuses, and communities throughout the United States as they celebrate the dynamic changes that are taking place in today\u2019s libraries. During National Library Week, April 11-16, the changing role of libraries, librarians, and library workers will be highlighted.<\/p>\n

Libraries of all types are evolving to meet the needs of the communities they serve. Today, libraries are creative and engaging life-long centers of learning where patrons can discover new technologies, participate in a special program, or simply read and relax with a newspaper, a magazine, or a good book.<\/p>\n

In keeping with the American Library Association\u2019s theme, libraries, literally and figuratively, transform lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cService to the community has always been the focus of our library,\u201d said Brumback Library Director John Carr. \u201cWe serve over 28,000 registered Van Wert County residents of all ages, as well as students and the public at large, as they pursue a myriad of research, informational, and recreational needs. The resources, services, and programming efforts that we provide are well used.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s weeklong National Library Week celebration will include the following activities:<\/p>\n

Monday, April 11<\/strong><\/p>\n

Main Library<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • 4-5 p.m. — Story and Craft Time<\/li>\n
  • 6:30 p.m. — Family Story Night<\/li>\n
  • Walk-in crafts offered throughout the day in the Children\u2019s Department<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Willshire Library<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • 6 p.m. \u2013 Story Time<\/li>\n
    • 6-8 p.m. \u2013 Open House<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Wren Library<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • 1 p.m. \u2013 Story Time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Tuesday, April 12<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Main Library<\/strong><\/p>\n

        • 9:30 a.m. — Vantage Preschool Tour and Story Time<\/li>\n
        • 10 a.m. — Infant and Toddler Story Time<\/li>\n
        • 10:30 a.m. — Preschool Story Time<\/li>\n
        • 11 a.m. —\u00a0Calvary Preschool Story Time<\/li>\n
        • Walk-in crafts offered throughout the day in the Children\u2019s Department<\/li>\n
        • 4-6 p.m. — National Library Week Party (preregistration required<\/em>).\u00a0Children are invited to come dressed as their favorite literary character, author, or illustrator.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                • Follow their activities online as they \u201cgo to story time, tour the Library, and make a craft.\u201d<\/li>\n
