{"id":75492,"date":"2016-04-18T07:01:41","date_gmt":"2016-04-18T12:01:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=75492"},"modified":"2016-04-18T07:01:41","modified_gmt":"2016-04-18T12:01:41","slug":"convoy-area-bike-rider-killed-in-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2016\/04\/18\/convoy-area-bike-rider-killed-in-accident\/","title":{"rendered":"Convoy area bike rider killed in accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>VW independent\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>CONVOY &#8212; The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a van and bicycle that occurred on Ohio 49 near milepost 15 in Van Wert County.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/osplogo.gif\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2340\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2340\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/osplogo.gif\" alt=\"osplogo\" width=\"121\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a>At approximately 8:35 p.m. Sunday, Crystle L. Brower, 39, of rural Convoy, was riding her bicycle northbound on Ohio 49 when a 2004 Chevrolet minivan driven by Ray A. Litmer, 57, of Convoy, also northbound, struck Brower\u2019s bicycle from behind.<\/p>\n<p>Brower was pronounced dead at the scene scene by Assistant Coroner Christine Ulrich. Litmer was not injured.<\/p>\n<p>The crash resulted in a closure of State Route 49 just north of Wolfcale Road, but the roadway has since been reopened.<\/p>\n<p>The Van Wert Post was assisted by the Van Wert County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Van Wert Fire Department Advanced Life Support, Convoy Fire and EMS, Brickner Ambulance Service, and Straightline Towing.<\/p>\n<p>Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, but the crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent\/submitted information CONVOY &#8212; The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a van and bicycle that occurred on Ohio 49 near milepost 15 in Van Wert County.
