Owens said Friday that 18 marijuana plants were recovered on Thursday following a tip from a concerned county resident. Sheriff\u2019s Department detectives launched an investigation based on the tip, recovering the marijuana plants along railroad tracks in York Township near the village of Elgin.<\/p>\n<p>The plants, when they matured, would be worth about $1,000 apiece. The investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone having information regarding the marijuana plants is asked to call the Sheriff\u2019s Department at 419.238.3866 or Crime Stoppers at 419.238.7867.<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff Owens also noted that the May session of the Van Wert County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Jordan D. Vickery for failure to register a change of address with the Sheriff\u2019s Department, as required for a sex offender.
