Riggenbach announced the recovery of several pieces of equipment on Friday at a residence in Harrison Township. A search warrant was obtained after investigators from the Ohio State Highway Patrol advised the sheriff&#8217;s office that they\u00a0believed a stolen piece of property was at a county residence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/VW-County-Sheriffs-Star-9-2014.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-55568\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-55568\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/VW-County-Sheriffs-Star-9-2014.jpg\" alt=\"VW County Sheriff's Star 9-2014\" width=\"250\" height=\"239\" \/><\/a>Deputies then obtained a search warrant for a residence in Harrison Township and, during a search of the property, found the stolen equipment: a skid loader.<\/p>\n<p>After finding the skid loader, deputies obtained a second search warrant to search for other stolen property at the first residence and a neighboring property.<\/p>\n<p>That search yielded two skid loaders, several flatbed trailers, and several vehicle trailers that were allegedly stolen. The stolen equipment was removed from the properties and secured at another location.<\/p>\n<p>Deputies also secured a large amount of other property\u00a0and\u00a0equipment, and several vehicles, and are working to determine whether the other equipment and vehicles on the property are stolen, or who the items belong to.<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff Riggenbach said deputies are working with other agencies to ID the property and then return the property to its rightful owners.<\/p>\n<p>The sheriff said no arrests have been made at this time, but his office\u00a0has identified a suspect.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the investigation is continuing, and that charges could be filed in the near future, and also acknowledged the role State Patrol investigators had in assisting his office with the investigation.<\/p>\n<h6>Updated at 8:36 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016<\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Van Wert independent\/submitted information The Van Wert County Sheriff&#8217;s Office is investigating the discovery of nearly\u00a0$200,000 in stolen equipment at a county residence on Friday.
