Come and see what the wind blew in! The Winds of Change Exhibit is on display through May 27 with paintings, drawings, photography, and sculpture representing the theme of wind and the effect it has on us.<\/p>\n

The following artists received awards.<\/p>\n

First Place — Pat Rayman of Ohio City.<\/p>\n

Second Place — Lanna Pendleton Hall of Montpelier.<\/p>\n

Third Place — Kay Sluterbeck of Van Wert.<\/p>\n

Honorable Mention — Jeffrey Core of Bryan, Vincen Angellis of Celina, Elgarda McGee of Van Wert, and Judi Snook of Edgerton.<\/p>\n

Awards will be presented during the closing party on May 27 from 6-9 p.m.<\/strong> This event is free and open to the public. A cash bar will be available. Blues musician Radoslav Lorkovic of Chicago will provide live music.<\/p>\n

This Wednesday, May 11, 18, 25 and June 1, 8, 15, from 6\u20138 p.m. we will continue our popular pottery and clay class with instructor Megan Thomas. Contact the art center to register and get more information.<\/p>\n

On May 26, at 6 p.m., Dan Litchfield of Iberdrola Renewables will host a presentation and Q & A session. This event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019d like to learn more about watercolor techniques, join instructor Pat Rayman and the ongoing Watercolor Techniques Class on Tuesday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon. Interested individuals may join the class at any time.There is a monthly fee of $35 for members or $40 for non-members. Pat is a popular instructor who believes there are no mistakes in art. Her teaching style is comfortable for beginners and experienced artists alike. Contact the art center to register.<\/p>\n

Every Thursday from 6-9 p.m. we host \u201cArtNight\u201d \u2013 a chance to work on current projects or try something new. It\u2019s free and open to anyone. Bring a friend or come by yourself. Beginners, experienced artists \u2013 everyone is welcome!<\/p>\n

On Friday, May 13 after Main Street Van Wert\u2019s \u201cHidden Spaces\u201d tour, the Wassenberg Art Center will host a free \u201cAfterglow\u201d. This will include a movie on downtown revitalization, snacks and a cash bar. It\u2019s open to everyone; please join us.<\/p>\n

The Wassenberg is planning to host an expanded summer camp for youth. We\u2019ll let you know more as soon as possible, so please watch this column.<\/p>\n

Town Creek Live (Formerly Eats on the Streets), a combined effort of Main Street Van Wert and the Wassenberg Art Center, is scheduled for July 9 from 3 p.m.-midnight. We will have twice the trucks, more ducks and two bands this year, including the Dan Smythe Band of Fort Wayne, Ind., and the Holbrook Brothers Band of Montpelier. Also, Sam Dell of Bryan will perform acoustic music inside the art center earlier and Van Wert\u2019s own Real Human Robot will return to funk it up. Ducks for the Duck Race will go on sale in early May — this year\u2019s recipient of our donation will be The Wrecking Crew.<\/p>\n
