(photo submitted)\" width=\"350\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-76254\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">L<strong>ocal residents\u00a0who attended a gala hosted by Dr. Mehmet and Lisa Oz are shown with Dr. Oz.<\/strong> <em>(photo submitted)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This year\u2019s event, the 10th annual HealthCorps gala, honored American television personality Rachael Ray.<\/p>\n<p>The HealthCorps\u2019 mission is to raise funds to fight child obesity and expand school health education programming. Dr. Oz and his wife founded HealthCorps and were co-hosts of the gala. This was a black tie event &#8212; a magical evening of dining, dancing, and entertainment by Ben Vereen.<\/p>\n<p>The dancers, along with their parents and studio owner-instructor Kim Hohman, traveled to New York City for this amazing opportunity and experience. The dancers attended rehearsals to learn\u00a0choreography for\u00a0a jazz number to be performed at the event.<\/p>\n<p>Hohman and parents Kimberly Laudick, Jacque Welch, and Tera Knebel volunteered for the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was such an amazing experience for all of us,\u201d said Hohman.<\/p>\n<p>Kim Hohman\u2019s DanceWorks&#8217; 20th annual recital will be held at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 21.
