{"id":7628,"date":"2011-05-09T04:55:03","date_gmt":"2011-05-09T09:55:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=7628"},"modified":"2011-05-10T02:17:18","modified_gmt":"2011-05-10T07:17:18","slug":"new-latta-measures-aim-change-energy-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2011\/05\/09\/new-latta-measures-aim-change-energy-production\/","title":{"rendered":"Latta measure addresses energy policies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Van Wert independent\/<\/strong><em>contributor content<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7629\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7629\" style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7629  \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Domestic-Energy-Resources-map.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"330\" height=\"255\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7629\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This map shows the location of domestic energy resources in and around the United States.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 As leader of the Republican Study Committee Energy Task Force, U.S. Representative Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) introduced the Consumer Relief for Pain at the Pump Act.<\/p>\n<p>The bill tackles rising gas prices by focusing on policies that increase America\u2019s domestic production of energy resources, making the United States more self-reliant and setting our nation on a path to greater energy security.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven America\u2019s abundance of natural resources, there is no reason why we are sitting tight and letting gas prices soar.\u00a0 I am excited to introduce this bill, which will curb surging gas prices and create downward pressure on the cost of oil by allowing America to take advantage of its vast domestic oil resources,\u201d said Congressman Latta.<\/p>\n<p>The Relief for Consumers to Reduce Pain at the Pump Act does the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Repeals the Obama\u00a0permatorium\u00a0on America\u2019s outer continental shelf;<\/li>\n<li>Opens up ANWR to exploration and production;<\/li>\n<li>Establishes a streamlined process for permitting and lease sales;<\/li>\n<li>Increases access to onshore oil, including shale oil;<\/li>\n<li>Blocks burdensome and unnecessary regulations; and<\/li>\n<li>Simplifies the judicial review process to limit frivolous environmental litigation on leases and permits that would indefinitely halt energy production.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cRepealing federal policies, stopping the EPA\u2019s backdoor energy tax, halting the President\u2019s drilling permatorium and unlocking energy resources both on and offshore will help alleviate the pain at the pump,\u201d said Congressman Latta.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Van Wert independent\/contributor content WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 As leader of the Republican Study Committee Energy Task Force, U.S. Representative Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) introduced the Consumer Relief for Pain at the Pump Act.
