(Photo submitted.)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lincolnview Local schools held its annual Relay for Life event from April 25-29.\u00a0 Students in grades K-12 engaged in activities throughout the week to honor those affected by cancer, as well as to raise money to be donated to the American Cancer Society.\u00a0Events were led by teacher Hollie Ford\u2019s high school speech class, and assisted by the sixth grade \u201cAgents of Change\u201d social activism group.\u00a0 Students held a change war, created luminaries, dressed in themed clothing, and held a daylong walking event.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_76437\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-76437\" style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Around-the-track-1-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-76437\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-76437\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Around-the-track-1-1.jpg\" alt=\" Scene from the walking event. (Photo submitted.)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe felt it was important to get involved with this cause.\u00a0 There have been many affected by cancer within our Lincolnview community, and this is one way we can honor their memory and support their fight,\u201d said Tonia Verville, elementary counselor.\u00a0 The elementary students raised $1,152.09 in one week, while the junior high and high school collected $992.98.<\/p>\n<p>Leading that charge was Christie Wendel\u2019s fourth grade class, who brought in<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_76438\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-76438\" style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Around-the-track-2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-76438\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-76438\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Around-the-track-2.jpg\" alt=\" Scene from the walking event.
