(photo submitted)\" width=\"250\" height=\"319\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-76462\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Verona and Terry Eikenbary set up a display of uniforms honoring the military.<\/strong> <em>(photo submitted)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Recently, the trustees put together a display of World War I and World War II uniforms donated by county residents.\u00a0However, the museum has no uniforms from the Korean, Vietnam, or Gulf wars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would like to honor the servicemen and servicewomen from those eras, but unfortunately the museum is unable to do so,\u201d said Museum Trustee Terry Eikenbary. \u201cThe historical society has great displays of memorabilia from the Civil, Spanish-American, and the World Wars, and we have cleared two display cases in the Annex building for the Korean and Vietnam wars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are putting out calls to individuals, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars organizations to provide us with the memorabilia so that we can honor those who served in Korea and Vietnam,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Eikenbary can be contacted at 419.238.1462, while the uniform display can be found in the museum\u2019s annex, which is open on Sundays from 2-4:30 p.m. Private tours can be arranged by calling Dean Williamson at 419.238.7737.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent\/submitted information The Van Wert County Historical Society plans to expand its tribute to the county\u2019s men and women who served in the United States military and helped to preserve the freedoms that Americans still have today.
