This compares with the national average, which has increased 3.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.36 a gallon, according to gasoline price website <a href=\"http:\/\/gasbuddy.com\/\">GasBuddy.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Including the change in gas prices in Ohio during the past week, prices Sunday were 11.5 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 40.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 14.2 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 39.5 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Gasoline-price-graphic-8-2012.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28382\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-28382 size-full\" title=\"MGN Online graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Gasoline-price-graphic-8-2012.jpg\" alt=\"Gasoline price graphic 8-2012\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a>According to GasBuddy historical data, gasoline prices on June 6 in Ohio have ranged widely over the last five years: $2.72 per gallon in 2015, $3.85 per gallon in 2014, $3.93 per gallon in 2013, $3.56 per gallon in 2012 and $3.87 per gallon in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first week of the summer driving season saw the national average price of gasoline rise by less than 4 cents per gallon, but some states saw much greater volatility resulting from regional refinery setbacks and\/or wholesale fuel spikes,\u201d said Gregg Laskoski, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan saw their respective state averages increase from 5 to 10 cents per gallon in recent days; impacted by an unplanned outage at Detroit\u2019s Marathon refinery and a jump in Chicago wholesale, which closed the week at the highest price level in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it was Florida that saw the greatest increase in retail prices nationwide, with its average jumping by 10 cents per gallon, triggered by a mid-week spike in Gulf Coast wholesale fuel,\u201d Laskoski added. \u201cTexas, Louisiana, and Alabama prices at the pump also increased, but only by half the amount seen in the Sunshine State, where motorists pay the highest gasoline taxes in the Southeast.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent\/submitted information Average retail gasoline prices in Ohio have risen 13.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.61 per gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy&#8217;s daily survey of 5,345 gas outlets in Ohio.
