{"id":7756,"date":"2011-05-11T13:26:58","date_gmt":"2011-05-11T18:26:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=7756"},"modified":"2011-05-11T13:26:58","modified_gmt":"2011-05-11T18:26:58","slug":"knights-earn-state-honors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2011\/05\/11\/knights-earn-state-honors\/","title":{"rendered":"Knights earn state honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Josh Staten<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Grueling hours of school work, going to school for an extra half hour, OAT testing, and AP test for high school students have all prepared students for their much-anticipated Fun Day event.\u00a0 Fun Day is an afternoon of field games and class competition along with a chance to get out of the classroom and burn some energy.\u00a0 The junior high fun day is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon and the high school\u2019s is set for Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Nick Bauer said \u201cFun day is a day that we actually get to go outside and out the classroom and have some fun playing against the other classes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Big news around for Crestview is the Knights\u2019 agricultural students winning state honors.\u00a0 The Farm Business Management team has finished second place in the state for the third year running.\u00a0 The team consists of second place finisher Kelsie Preston, fifth place finisher Zack Schaadt, eighth place finisher Matt Holden, and ninth place finisher Josh Staten.\u00a0 The placing that the students received is out of 340 students in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Another award-winning team was the Ag Engineering team, finishing fourth in the state.\u00a0 This team consisting of seventh place finisher Jordan Miller, fourteenth place finisher Calib Cunningham, and ninteenth place finisher Derek Bissonette who also received second in the state in the hands on competition.\u00a0 These individuals placed out of 260 students in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Cooperatives team also got state honors with a third place finish.\u00a0 These finishes are out of 285 students.\u00a0 Leading the team was fifth place finisher Thomas Lichtensteiger, ninth place finisher Alex Brown, fifteenth place finisher Nick Dealey, and seventeenth place finisher Adam Schumm.\u00a0 The finial state honor the Knights received is the Greenhand team.\u00a0 Team members consisting of fifth place finisher Felix Hecht, eighth place finisher Lucas Gibson, thirteenth place finisher Jacob Germann, and fourteenth place finisher Scott Miller.\u00a0 The placing for this competition is out of 1101 students in the state.<\/p>\n<p>FFA adviser and ag teacher Mr. Pohlman commented, &#8220;I couldn\u2019t be more pleased with the group of students.
