(photo submitted)\" width=\"330\" height=\"301\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-77997\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>U.S. Representative Bob Latta participates in a hearing on proposed Federal Communications Commission regulations in the U.S. House of Representatives.<\/strong> <em>(photo submitted)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>All five FCC commissioners testified at the\u00a0\u201cOversight of the Federal Communications Commission\u201d\u00a0hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Latta\u2019s\u00a0opening statement focused on proposed FCC rules regarding privacy requirements for broadband Internet service providers and the commission\u2019s set-top box proposal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I urge the Commission to continue to work with the industry to develop an alternative plan that will foster competition and innovation while protecting small TV providers from onerous regulations, offer consumers more choice and privacy protection, and safeguard programming content and license agreements,\u201d\u00a0Latta said. &#8220;Considering the Commission\u2019s integral role in this marketplace, we must be watchful of the regulatory policies it places on the communications and technology industries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Video of Congressman Latta\u2019s opening statement is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dPffii1caq8\">available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Latta also asked FCC Commissioner Michael\u00a0O\u2019Rielly\u00a0about the effect that improved\u00a0technologies like the Spectrum Frontiers Order and the\u00a0development of 5G would have on the Internet of Things (IoT).
