Those interested in applying can pick up an application at the Van Wert County Sheriff\u2019s Office, 113 N. Market St. in Van Wert, or print an application off the sheriff\u2019s office website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanwertcountysheriff.com\">www.vanwertcountysheriff.com<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p>Those applying need to also include a letter of interest and a r\u00e9sum\u00e9 when submitting their application. Applications can be dropped off at the sheriff\u2019s office at any time during the acceptance period above, emailed using the link at the bottom of the office\u2019s home page, or mailed to the sheriff\u2019s office using the above address.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be U.S. citizens<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/VW-County-Sheriffs-Star-9-2014.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-55568\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-55568\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/VW-County-Sheriffs-Star-9-2014.jpg\" alt=\"VW County Sheriff's Star 9-2014\" width=\"250\" height=\"239\" \/><\/a>Be at least 18 years of age<\/li>\n<li>Be residents of Van Wert County or be able to report to work in 30 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Possess a valid Ohio driver\u2019s license<\/li>\n<li>Have a high school diploma or GED and provide a copy of the diploma or certificate with the application<\/li>\n<li>Have a valid OPOTA Peace Officer certification when submitting their application<\/li>\n<li>Be of good moral character<\/li>\n<li>Never have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude and not currently under indictment for any criminal offense.<\/li>\n<li>Never have been convicted of any family violence offense<\/li>\n<li>Obtain certifications required to perform duties of position to maintain employment<\/li>\n<li>Be able to pass pre-employment background investigation, which may include a polygraph examination<\/li>\n<li>Be able to pass drug screen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more-->Starting salary is $15.01 per hour, with step increases.
