{"id":7852,"date":"2011-05-13T01:06:51","date_gmt":"2011-05-13T06:06:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=7852"},"modified":"2011-05-13T01:06:51","modified_gmt":"2011-05-13T06:06:51","slug":"county-looks-at-electric-power-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2011\/05\/13\/county-looks-at-electric-power-program\/","title":{"rendered":"County looks at electric power program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Van Wert independent<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the Van Wert County Board of Commissioners already receiving energy savings through a program related to natural gas purchases, it was fairly certain they would be willing to look at a program that held out the possibility of savings on electric power purchases as well.<\/p>\n<p>The commissioners heard a proposal Thursday from Kirk Mizerek of Palmer Energy Company of Toledo that could result in potential savings on electricity purchases made by the county through the combination of electric power suppliers in the county.<\/p>\n<p>The program is offered through the County Commissioners Association of Ohio and is for counties served by Ohio Power Company. The commissioners signed a letter allowing Palmer Energy to seek electric pricing information, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Historical energy use and billing information<\/li>\n<li>Securing load provide, maximum amount or monthly demands and other consumption information.<\/li>\n<li>Secure customer numbers, account numbers, rate codes or other information necessary to fill out letters of authorization.<\/li>\n<li>Obtain pricing from various suppliers to inform and evaluate the pricing opportunities for electric supplies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The letter signed by the commissioners also authorizes Palmer Energy to sign on behalf of the county any letters of authorization or other forms needed to obtain pricing information from Certified Retail Electric Suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>The program could also be extended to the townships and incorporated areas in the county, with their approval.<\/p>\n<p>The commissioners will decide if they want to be a part of the program after reviewing information obtained by Palmer Energy.<\/p>\n<p>The commissioners had also planned to open bids Thursday for a park project in Scott, but no bids were received on the project.
