Just a reminder that the\u00a0YWCA of Van Wert County housing program is having its\u00a0second annual Purple Light Nights\u2122 campaign.<\/p>\n

Purple Light Nights began in Covington, Washington, in 2007 and has grown nationally, with organizations in 14 states participating in this meaningful campaign. The goal of the cause is to remember domestic violence homicide victims, celebrate the survivors, and give hope to those who still live in an abusive situation. The color purple is recognized as the international color symbolic of domestic violence.<\/p>\n

\"Purple<\/a>To participate in Purple Light Nights, community members and businesses are encouraged to purchase a purple light bulb or a string of purple lights through the YWCA. The lights should then be displayed on lamp posts, porch lights, trees and\/or business store fronts the entire month of October to honor and remember domestic violence victims.<\/p>\n

Businesses can also sponsor a tree with recognition of their sponsorship. Each purchase comes with a complimentary \u201cStop Domestic Violence\u201d yard sign.<\/p>\n
