The goal of the cause is to remember domestic violence homicide victims, celebrate the survivors, and give hope to those who still live in an abusive situation. The color purple is recognized as the international color symbolic of domestic violence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Purple-Light-Night-artwork-8-2016.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-78559\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-78559\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Purple-Light-Night-artwork-8-2016.jpg\" alt=\"Purple Light Night artwork 8-2016\" width=\"257\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a>To participate in Purple Light Nights, community members and businesses are encouraged to purchase a purple light bulb or a string of purple lights through the YWCA. The lights should then be displayed on lamp posts, porch lights, trees and\/or business store fronts the entire month of October to honor and remember domestic violence victims.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses can also sponsor a tree with recognition of their sponsorship. Each purchase comes with a complimentary \u201cStop Domestic Violence\u201d yard sign.<\/p>\n<p>Prices of lights are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Single purple light bulbs, $5 each.<\/li>\n<li>Purple LED light strings, $30 each.<\/li>\n<li>Tree sponsorships, $100 each.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Orders for lights will be taken through August, with delivery scheduled for late September. Lights and sponsorships may be purchase at the YWCA by calling 419.238.6639 or by emailing <a href=\"mailto:jwannemacher@ywcavanwertcounty.org\">jwannemacher@ywcavanwertcounty.org<\/a>. Payment is due at the time of purchase.<\/p>\n<p>All proceeds benefit the YWCA\u2019s Domestic Violence Transitional Living Program.
