{"id":79307,"date":"2016-08-27T07:18:53","date_gmt":"2016-08-27T12:18:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=79307"},"modified":"2016-08-27T07:18:53","modified_gmt":"2016-08-27T12:18:53","slug":"new-ohio-voter-info-apps-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2016\/08\/27\/new-ohio-voter-info-apps-now-available\/","title":{"rendered":"New &#8216;Ohio voter info&#8217; apps now available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>VW independent\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Van Wert County voters can now access voting information on their smart phones, including what\u2019s on the ballot and where the poll sites are, via the new free Ohio Voter Information app. The app can be found on the Play Store for Android phone users and on the App Store for iPhone owners.<\/p>\n<p>All information available with the application is considered public record information and is readily available at all Board of Elections offices. But by using the app, the data is available right in the palm of one\u2019s hand.<\/p>\n<p>With the app, voters will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>See the residence address they currently have on file (if it\u2019s wrong, voters can update the information from the app).<\/li>\n<li>See their voting history.<\/li>\n<li>Check the status of their absentee ballot, if they have requested one.<\/li>\n<li>Find polling site information, so they know where they can vote.<\/li>\n<li>View available sample ballots for upcoming elections.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Voters can download the free app by searching for \u201cOhio Voter Information\u201d in each respective app store. After installing the app, voters will need to customize it, as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to \u201cvoter settings\u201d; in \u201csearch county\u201d scroll to select their county of residence.<\/li>\n<li>Set push notifications to \u201con\u201d and email notifications to \u201con\u201d by moving the button to the right.<\/li>\n<li>Put in their email address and phone number of the device on which they want to receive notices.<\/li>\n<li>Once they complete those settings, voters need to select \u201csave settings.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Press the \u201cvoter lookup\u201d icon.<\/li>\n<li>Type in their last name and first name and then click \u201csubmit\u201d to display some of the specific information that\u2019s on file for them.<\/li>\n<li>Next to \u201cname and birth\u201d, voters will see \u201cset as my voter info\u201d in green.
