{"id":79418,"date":"2016-08-31T06:11:17","date_gmt":"2016-08-31T11:11:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=79418"},"modified":"2016-09-01T07:14:48","modified_gmt":"2016-09-01T12:14:48","slug":"plenty-of-activities-events-at-160th-van-wert-county-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2016\/08\/31\/plenty-of-activities-events-at-160th-van-wert-county-fair\/","title":{"rendered":"Plenty of activities, events at County Fair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>DAVE MOSIER\/<\/strong><em>independent editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Although the 160th edition of the Van Wert County Fair officially begins this morning, the Fair Board has already held a number of events that used to be held on actual fair days, including the Junior Fair King and Queen Coronation, 4-H Style Review, and 4-H Special Awards ceremony, all of which were held on \u201cCelebration Sunday\u201d this past weekend.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_79419\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-79419\" style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-79419\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-VW-County-Fair-Rodeo-front-page-8-30-16.jpg\" alt=\"Bull riding was just one of the events held Tuesday evening during the Bulls &amp; Barrels Rodeo in front of the grandstand on the Van Wert County Fairgrounds. Bob Barnes\/Van Wert independent\" width=\"330\" height=\"348\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-79419\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Bull riding was just one of the events held Tuesday evening during the Bulls &amp; Barrels Rodeo in front of the grandstand on the Van Wert County Fairgrounds.<\/strong> <em>Bob Barnes\/Van Wert independent<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Several events were also judged on Tuesday on the fairgrounds, while the Bulls &amp; Barrels Rodeo took place Tuesday night in front of the grandstand.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday\u2019s events include a ribboncutting ceremony at 8 a.m. and weigh-ins for Junior Fair turkeys, sheep, and goats.<\/p>\n<p>The midway also opens Wednesday at 3 p.m., while a flag raising ceremony will be held at 6:45 Wednesday evening in front of the grandstand.<\/p>\n<p>Following the flag raising, a Calf Scramble will be the main grandstand event for Wednesday evening, starting at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday the fair gets into full swing, with Veterans Day and Senior Citizens Day both designated for that day at the fair, as well as Kids Day ($3 admission for everyone).
