Washington St. in Van Wert.<\/p>\n<p>Residents will be able to bring up to four regular vehicle tires at no cost, but each additional tire will cost $1 per tire.\u00a0Larger tires will be priced by size.\u00a0The \u201ctire amnesty\u201d will run from 8 a.m. until\u00a0noon that Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201ctire amnesty\u201d program, a joint effort between the Van Wert Solid Waste Management District and the\u00a0Van Wert County Health Department, is funded by a mosquito control grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).<\/p>\n<p>Although no <em>Aedes aegypti<\/em> mosquitoes have been identified yet in northwest Ohio, discarded\u00a0tires holding standing water are the ideal type of habitat for \u201czika\u201d mosquitoes, as well as mosquitoes\u00a0carrying the West Nile Virus.<\/p>\n<p>The Recycling Center accepts used tires at any time throughout the year for a fee of $5 per\u00a0passenger car or truck tire.
