{"id":80968,"date":"2016-10-19T06:50:42","date_gmt":"2016-10-19T11:50:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=80968"},"modified":"2016-10-19T06:50:42","modified_gmt":"2016-10-19T11:50:42","slug":"nurses-association-members-take-trip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2016\/10\/19\/nurses-association-members-take-trip\/","title":{"rendered":"Nurses Association members take trip"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Van Wert Area Nurses Association \u201cHit the Road\u201d for the 16th\u00a0time on\u00a0a trip to Michigan City, Indiana, on October 12.\u00a0Thirty-eight nurses and two friends participated.<\/p>\n<p>While traveling to and from its destination, the group viewed DVDs on \u201cThe Past, The Present and The Future in Our Health Profession\u201d.\u00a0The group learned about the Science of Fat, the Heroin Epidemic, Myths and Lies concerning common health issues,\u00a0Stem Cell Research, Compassion in Medicine today and, lastly, the Healing Capabilities of Laughter.<\/p>\n<p>The group then had the opportunity to shop at the Lighthouse Outlet Mall and\/or enjoy some time at the Blue Chip Casino. The bus trip funds help to award three nursing scholarships each May. The arrangements were made through the YWCA Travel Department.\u00a0\u00a0A big thanks for to Rosemary Foreman, RN, and nursing association member, for being the escort for the YWCA.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to all members for gracious raffle donations.<\/p>\n<p>Those traveling included Wendy Baumle, Sue Beining, Kathleen Bodiker, Jan Borg, Karen Brown, Leigh Carey, Cindy Cook, Brenda Edwards.
