(photo submitted)\" width=\"330\" height=\"248\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-81314\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Marty Brenneman, the Voice of the Reds, is shown in the press box of Great American Ball Park<\/strong>. <em>(photo submitted)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Along with numerous other honors, he\u2019s a 12-time recipient of the \u201cOhio Sportscaster of the Year\u201d award, and he\u2019s a member of four halls of fame.<\/p>\n<p>Marty Brennaman, the \u201cVoice of the Reds\u201d for more than four decades, is coming to Van Wert\u2019s Niswonger Performing Arts Center in early November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tell people all the time: I\u2019m a baseball guy and I talk baseball,\u201d Brennaman told The Van Wert independent. \u201cI\u2019ll talk about our current team, the year that they had (68-94), and what we can look forward to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brennaman will also share his most memorable moments, including Pete Rose\u2019s record-setting 4,192nd career hit, Ken Griffey Jr.\u2019s 500th and 600th career home runs, Reds\u2019 World Series victories in 1975, 1976, and 1990, and he&#8217;ll talk about with broadcasting with his son, Thom Brennaman.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019ll also answer questions from the audience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI enjoy the question-and-answer session more than any formal presentation, because it gives people a chance to ask questions about the team, my job, and the years I\u2019ve been here,\u201d Brennaman said. \u201cI\u2019ll tell a lot of stories, and inevitably people want to talk about the 31 years (Reds legend) Joe Nuxhall and I worked together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Even though the Reds didn\u2019t qualify for the playoffs this year, Brennaman said he\u2019s enjoyed the postseason.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve watched a lot of baseball since the regular season ended,\u201d Brennaman said. \u201cI watched the Division Series, the League Championship Series, and the World Series.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While admitting broadcasting spring training games, a 162-game regular season schedule and playoff games can be a grind, the 74-year-old Brennaman said he has no plans to slow down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the thing that keeps me going is I enjoy doing the broadcasts,\u201d Brennaman said. \u201cFrom my perspective, each game presents a challenge, because you never know what you\u2019re going to see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a game that keeps you young,\u201d Brennaman added. \u201cI feel like I\u2019m a very young 74 years old, and I feel very blessed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for Brennaman\u2019s presentation on Monday, November 7, starting at 7:30 p.m., are available for $20 each by calling the Niswonger Performing Arts Center Box Office at 419.238.6722, noon-4 p.m., Monday through Friday, or online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.npacvw.org\/\">www.npacvw.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SCOTT TRUXELL\/independent correspondent His credentials and honors are impressive: Over the course of 43 seasons, he\u2019s broadcast more than 7,000 games on the Cincinnati Reds Radio Network &#8212; 68 radio stations in seven different states.
