{"id":81847,"date":"2016-11-16T07:52:24","date_gmt":"2016-11-16T12:52:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=81847"},"modified":"2016-11-16T07:52:24","modified_gmt":"2016-11-16T12:52:24","slug":"a-thrill-for-lincolnview-music-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2016\/11\/16\/a-thrill-for-lincolnview-music-students\/","title":{"rendered":"A thrill for Lincolnview music students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This past Monday, Lincolnview Local Schools and Vantage Career Center board member Eric German provided a thrill for nearly a hundred local students.\u00a0Germann was honored as the 61st president of the Ohio School Boards Association in a ceremony held in the Columbus Convention Center.\u00a0Congratulations, Eric!\u00a0 As a result of that honor, the Lincolnview High School band and choir were invited to perform on stage as part of the program.\u00a0Mrs. Anna Baker directs the band and Mrs. Stacie Korte is the choir director.<\/p>\n<p>I was privileged to attend as the spouse of the choir accompanist and also as a trumpet soloist with the choir. I couldn\u2019t help but notice the wide eyes of these local students as they entered the big ballroom of the Columbus Convention Center.\u00a0I know how hard they have worked, preparing for their performances in front of nearly 5,000 attendees with standing room only.\u00a0Each group did their school, President Germann, and our entire community proud as they performed on probably the biggest stage of their lives!\u00a0Kudos to the kids, their directors, and the Lincolnview Local School District for giving them all this wonderful growing experience, which will likely be treasured by all of them for a long time.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_81848\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-81848\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-81848\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Lincolnview-Choir-at-OSBA.jpg\" alt=\"The Lincolnview High School choir performs at the OSBA Capital Conference in Columbus. (photo submitted)\" width=\"350\" height=\"253\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-81848\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>The Lincolnview High School choir performs at the OSBA Capital Conference in Columbus.<\/strong> <em>(photo submitted)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This makes me think of the tremendous music opportunities many of our local student musicians have had even recently.\u00a0Although I didn\u2019t have the chance to catch Crestview\u2019s production of <em>Peter Pan<\/em>, I heard it was outstanding!\u00a0 And I\u2019m sure the Van Wert High School band students are still cherishing their recent opportunity to march in \u201cThe Shoe\u201d at The Ohio State University.\u00a0There have been and will be more opportunities to come for many music students in our community.\u00a0Remember, the next person you might see on the Niswonger stage could be a local musician of our very own!<\/p>\n<p>Ready or not, here we come!\u00a0Christmas at the Niswonger starts Monday, November 21.\u00a0<em>Elf, the Musical<\/em> moves in for a rare Monday night Broadway Christmas show.\u00a0We are fortunate that school is out of session on Monday with parent-teacher conferences.\u00a0It takes a lot of backstage area to produce a four semi-truck show like <em>Elf, the Musical<\/em>.\u00a0We appreciate the VWHS music staff\u2019s cooperation of allowing us to utilize some of their space to produce these large shows.<\/p>\n<p><em>Elf<\/em> is sold out and has been for some time.\u00a0Check at the last minute, though, to see if any tickets have been released.\u00a0We would hate to have any seat go empty for this great holiday production.\u00a0Four 53-foot semi rigs will empty a lot of gear and staging for this show, including an orchestra pit of musicians.
