Bush, 95, of Van Wert, and formerly of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 10:39 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017, in the Emergency Room of Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_83952\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-83952\" style=\"width: 275px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-83952\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Gertrude-Bush-obit-photo-2-2017.jpg\" alt=\"Gertrude E. Bush\" width=\"275\" height=\"396\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-83952\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Gertrude E. Bush<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She was born August 31, 1921, in Ossian, Indiana, the daughter of Merle and Ines (Margardt) Gressley, who both preceded her in death.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include a son, Tom \u201cCorky\u201d (Joanna M.) Bush of Monroeville; five grandchildren, Mark (Melissa Boyd) Dempsey, Marshall (Trena) Dempsey, Mitchel (Mary) Dempsey, Tim (Jamie) Bush, and Ann (Ray) Higgins; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>A daughter, Marjorie A. \u201cCricket\u201d Dempsey; one brother, Norman \u201cPink\u201d Gressley; and a sister, Marjorie Myers, also preceded her in death.<\/p>\n<p>Gertrude was formerly a licensed practical nurse at Decatur (Indiana) Clinic and at several nursing homes, and was a Girl Scout leader for many years.<\/p>\n<p>She was a member of St. Mark\u2019s Lutheran Church in Monroeville.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 4, at St. Mark\u2019s Lutheran Church in Monroeville.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Visitation is from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preferred memorials: Community Health Professionals-Visiting Nurses and Adult Day Care in Van Wert, or the Adult Activities Fund at Van Wert Manor.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements were handled by Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home &amp; Crematory in Van Wert.<\/p>\n<p>Condolences may be expressed at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alspachgearhart.com\">www.alspachgearhart.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gertrude E.
