Latta, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy, laid out eight points of emphasis to promote American energy security and develop abundant resources for the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnergy policy has\u00a0broad\u00a0implications that range from\u00a0the\u00a0price of an Ohio family\u2019s utility bill to the security of our country,\u201d said Latta. \u201cPursuing a comprehensive energy\u00a0strategy\u00a0should be a priority for this Congress, and it should include measures like investing in advanced nuclear technology, encouraging technological innovations to access natural gas, and using expanded\u00a0renewable\u00a0and\u00a0alternative\u00a0energy sources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis resolution outlines the priorities needed to fully implement a 21st century energy policy that\u00a0lowers prices, creates jobs, and ensures our nation\u2019s energy security,\u201d\u00a0Latta added.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0eight\u00a0priorities listed\u00a0in the resolution are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encouraging technological innovations to exploit our vast supply of natural gas<\/li>\n<li>Increasing our domestic oil production, infrastructure, and refining capacity<\/li>\n<li>Exploring and investing in the current nuclear fleet and advanced reactor technologies<\/li>\n<li>Taking advantage of our domestic coal supply through processes such as carbon capture, utilization, and storage<\/li>\n<li>Using expanded renewable and alternative energy sources<\/li>\n<li>Supporting additional research and development through new and innovative methods, including public-private partnerships<\/li>\n<li>Promoting increased conservation and energy efficiency<\/li>\n<li>Enhancing consumer awareness and education regarding domestic energy use, supply, and development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The resolution is <a href=\"https:\/\/latta.house.gov\/uploadedfiles\/energy_resolution_115th_congress.pdf\">available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Submitted information WASHINGTON, D.C.\u00a0&#8212;\u00a0U.S. Representative Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) has introduced a resolution\u00a0outlining\u00a0priorities for a comprehensive plan to reform national energy policy.
