{"id":8709,"date":"2011-06-01T16:41:52","date_gmt":"2011-06-01T21:41:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=8709"},"modified":"2011-06-01T21:23:01","modified_gmt":"2011-06-02T02:23:01","slug":"kenneth-dale-hicks-sr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2011\/06\/01\/kenneth-dale-hicks-sr\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenneth Dale Hicks Sr."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kenneth Dale Hicks Sr., 72, of Fort Wayne, Ind., died at 11:40 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.<\/p>\n<p>He was born June 24, 1938, in Harrisburg, Ill., the son of the late Richard and Dena (Colbert) Hicks. He married Mona L. (Custer) Hicks, who survives in Fort Wayne.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8711\" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/American-Flag-for-obituaries-6-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"66\" \/>Other survivors include Kenneth Dale Hicks Jr. of Arlington, Texas, Richard Patrick Hicks of Seattle, Wash., Byron Todd (Anne) Hicks of Parker, Colo., and Christopher Joseph Hicks of Churubusco, Ind.; one brother, Tom Hicks of Evansville, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.<\/p>\n<p>A son, Howard Gregory Hicks; two brothers, the Rev. Norman Hicks and Erschel Hicks; and a sister, Lois McDaniels, also preceded him in death.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Cedar Creek Church of Christ in Leo, Ind., with Ministers Mike Kjergaard, Greg Krafft and Dave Altman officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Fort Wayne.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 3, and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preferred memorials: Cedar Creek Missions or Croninger Elementary School Student Council, c\/o Amy Strine.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements were handled by Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home &amp; Crematory in Van Wert.<\/p>\n<p>Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alspachgearhart.com\">www.alspachgearhart.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kenneth Dale Hicks Sr., 72, of Fort Wayne, Ind., died at 11:40 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
