This year\u2019s 2011-2012 Niswonger Performing Arts Center season holds the promise of a bigger and better season than ever before!<\/p>\n<p>A special show kicks off this fourth season at the NPAC celebrating those who serve and remembering the pain and sorrow of loss on September 11, 2001, with a special 9\/11 Musical Memorial and Celebration concert by the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. Featuring renowned conductor Andrew Constantine, along with vocalists, a men\u2019s chorus, and multimedia presentations &#8212; area residents won\u2019t want to miss this one-time show produced and presented only in Van Wert!<\/p>\n<p>To continue the observance of the 10th anniversary of 9\/11, World Trade Center survivor and guide dog user Michael Hingson brings his story to the NPAC on September 13. Hingson incorporates his unique experience of leading a group of people down from the 78th floor of Tower One to safety as a motivational factor in his discussion \u201cTurning the Tables on Terrorism\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Then the platinum selling, worldwide-chart-topping, Grammy-winning \u201cBoy From New York City\u201d group Manhattan Transfer comes to town on September 17. It will be an evening of high-energy jazz, Brazilian and pop music!<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the little moments in life that are often the most defining &#8212; a sticky kiss from a child or a shared prayer. Contemporary Christian Grammy and Dove award winner Steven Curtis Chapman brings his unique story of music to the NPAC on September 25.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Then hang on to your seats as \u201cDancing with the Stars\u2019\u201d Louis Van Amstel brings his choreographed \u201cBallroom with a Twist\u201d show to the NPAC on October 9. Along with previous American Idol contestants and award-winning dancers, it will be a show that will leave the audience breathless!<\/p>\n<p>Whether you are a basketball fan or not, \u201cCoach\u201d \u2013 the untold story of college basketball legend Al McGuire, will take the audience into the inner secrets and private thoughts of this legendary coach. The show written by sportscaster and friend Dick Enberg will be November 6.<\/p>\n<p>The holiday season has never been this spectacular as the NPAC presents five fantastic holiday shows. Leading off the holiday season on November 27 is legendary Gaither Vocal Band tenor and contemporary Christian artist David Phelps with his unique presentation of holiday classics and brand new Christmas songs.<\/p>\n<p>Then the Ballet Theatre of Toledo presents Tchaikovsky\u2019s timeless holiday classic, <em>The Nutcracker<\/em> on December 3, featuring a live pit orchestra and a variety of local dancers for two shows.<\/p>\n<p>Believe it or not, Kenny G is back on December 6 for one spectacular evening holiday show. This master of jazz will again bring the music to life on the NPAC stage for an exhilarating evening of Christmas music and legendary smooth jazz.<\/p>\n<p>For those who enjoy Bluegrass and country sounds of the holiday, Ricky Skaggs returns as promised with his family, the Whites, and their children for the Skaggs Family Christmas tour on December 11.<\/p>\n<p>And if that isn\u2019t enough, the holiday season ends with a bang as John Tesh, artist, author, radio host and previous co-host of \u201cEntertainment Tonight\u201d, brings his successful Big Band Christmas show to the NPAC on December 17.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s just half the season! Steel Magnolia, Country Music Academy\u2019s 2010 \u201cVocal Duo of the Year\u201d nominee and Season 2 winners of \u201cCan You Duet?\u201d, kicks off the New Year on January 6 with a high-energy country show!<\/p>\n<p>On January 24, Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of former president George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush, offers a fresh voice with a positive message on how lives can be changed when provided with compassion, community support and educational opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Legendary country\/pop music group Restless Heart brings its 25 years of great hits to the NPAC on February 11 for an entertaining evening. Hits that include \u201cWhy does it have to be?\u201d and \u201cDancy\u2019s Dream\u201d make it a perfect Valentine\u2019s Day date night.<\/p>\n<p>Then look out Celtic music fans \u2026 the Women of Ireland come to Van Wert on February 25! With a blend of Irish fiddle, dance and song, they will warm up a cold February night!<\/p>\n<p>On March 3, Tony Award-winning Broadway musical <em>Fiddler on the Roof<\/em> takes the stage for two shows. The show that has captured the hearts of people all over the world brings the songs \u201cTradition\u201d, \u201cIf I Were a Rich Man\u201d and others to Van Wert, as Tevye tries to hold onto his daughters and his traditions!<\/p>\n<p>Two pianos and two masterful artists bring an evening of smooth jazz to the NPAC on March 17 as crowd favorite Brian Culbertson returns and brings his friend, Grammy-nominated contemporary jazz pianist David Benoit.<\/p>\n<p>It only takes a little to BE BIG &#8212; that is the message as Clifford the Big Red Dog and friends Cleo, Emily Elizabeth and T-Bone embark on new adventures. It is a show sure to delight the entire family on March 18.<\/p>\n<p>The finale of the season is sure to be enjoyed by all ages as the 2008 Tony-winning \u201cBest Broadway Musical\u201d <em>In The Heights<\/em> hits the stage with a bang on May 14. It\u2019s all about home, family and finding where one belongs.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget about the Community Concert Series at the NPAC, which features Rockapella, Capitol Steps, Livingston Taylor with the Fort Wayne Unity Choir, Sandy Hackett\u2019s Rat Pack Show and Gaudete Brass. This entire package is available for one very affordable price.<\/p>\n<p>Also returning as a special event will be the Air Force \u201cBand of Flight\u201d on Sunday, November 13. Led by Commander\/Conductor Major R. Michael Mench, this show will be free admission with a ticket through Times Bulletin Media or NPAC Box Office.<\/p>\n<p>Take a deep breath.
