(photo submitted)\" width=\"350\" height=\"337\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-88668\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Shown are new ovens installed at the Cooper Farms Cooked Meats facility in Van Wert as part of a 15,000-square-foot expansion.<\/strong><em> (photo submitted)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Director of Production Tom Wisvari said the expansion was necessary to keep up with the increased customer demand of Cooper Farms products.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe needed this additional 20 percent to keep up with the growing demands of our customers,\u201d Wisvari added. \u201cWe want to have this plant in the best possible position to serve our customers with whatever their needs may be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The expansion includes the addition of two new ovens, two new rapid cooling cells, additional processing space, team member welfare area, maintenance space, and dry storage.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the location\u2019s current configuration, expansion in certain directions was limited, making it difficult for Cooper Farms to pull off this expansion without some creative thinking. Therefore, the plant had to do some innovative rearranging.<\/p>\n<p>COO Gary Cooper was happy with what they were able to accomplish.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had to get creative with the space we had available to us,\u201d Cooper said. \u201cBusiness is booming and we did what we could to accommodate our customers\u2019 demands for more product.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the addition of the two ovens, the Cooked Meats Plant can now cook 90 million pounds of meat each year. When the plant was reconstructed after damage from the November 2002 tornado, it was expected it could max out at 1 million pounds cooked per week.
