{"id":89298,"date":"2017-06-21T07:23:49","date_gmt":"2017-06-21T12:23:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=89298"},"modified":"2017-06-21T07:23:49","modified_gmt":"2017-06-21T12:23:49","slug":"cougars-roll-past-o-g","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2017\/06\/21\/cougars-roll-past-o-g\/","title":{"rendered":"Cougars roll past O-G"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SCOTT TRUXELL\/<\/strong><em>independent sports editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On a perfect night for baseball, it was another solid outing by Van Wert.<\/p>\n<p>The Cougars scored five runs in the middle two innings, and went on to an 8-2 Acme baseball league win over visiting Ottawa-Glandorf on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The victory improved Van Wert\u2019s record to 10-0.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_89296\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-89296\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-89296\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/VWAcme6-20-17-e1498042167846.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"228\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-89296\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Hayden Maples prepares to bunt against O-G.<\/strong> <em>Scott Truxell\/Van Wert independent<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Trailing 2-1 entering the third inning, Ryan Hollingsworth tied the game by scoring on a fielder\u2019s choice by Jonathon Lee. A batter later, Jake Lautzenheiser gave Van Wert a 3-2 lead by scoring on an error. Lautzenheiser also scored on wild pitches in the first and sixth innings.<\/p>\n<p>The Cougars added three more runs in the fourth inning. Lawson Blackmore\u2019s single to left field scored Hayden Maples, then Blackmore crossed home plate on a double by Darius Eddins. Jalen McCracken\u2019s RBI double scored Eddins, and put Van Wert up 6-2.<\/p>\n<p>In the fifth inning Eddins tripled to left, scoring Maples from first.<\/p>\n<p>Van Wert finished the game with eight hits, including two each by Lautzenheiser and Eddins.
