{"id":89350,"date":"2017-06-22T08:31:06","date_gmt":"2017-06-22T13:31:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=89350"},"modified":"2017-06-22T08:31:06","modified_gmt":"2017-06-22T13:31:06","slug":"hundreds-attend-elks-day-at-camp-clay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2017\/06\/22\/hundreds-attend-elks-day-at-camp-clay\/","title":{"rendered":"Hundreds attend Elks Day at Camp Clay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Kids and adults alike took advantage of a gorgeous day on Tuesday as more than 675 kids, along with approximately 100 adults, showed up at the YMCA Camp Clay for the sixth Elks Day at Camp Clay.<\/p>\n<p>This free day at Camp Clay was provided to all area youths by Van Wert Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_89352\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-89352\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-89352\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Elks-Day-at-Camp-Clay-6-2017-swimming.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"311\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-89352\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Kids enjoy swimming at Camp Clay on Elks Day at Camp Clay.<\/strong> <em>(photo submitted)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Those who participated enjoyed swimming, the splash pad, wall climbing, paddle boats, kayaking, canoeing, the nature trail, and especially the aqua park, from noon until 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The Elks also provided a free lunch from noon until 3 p.m., along with an afternoon treat of ice cream for all kids who attended.<\/p>\n<p>Van Wert Lodge was able to provide the special event through grants received from the Elks National Foundation<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were very pleased with the turnout and happy that the kids came out to enjoy the day,\u201d said Mike Stanley, lodge event chair. \u201cThis was our sixth year at providing this type of entertainment for the youth and it is growing each year.
