{"id":90043,"date":"2017-07-10T08:54:56","date_gmt":"2017-07-10T13:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=90043"},"modified":"2017-07-10T08:56:02","modified_gmt":"2017-07-10T13:56:02","slug":"cviews-impressive-acme-postseason-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2017\/07\/10\/cviews-impressive-acme-postseason-continues\/","title":{"rendered":"C&#8217;view&#8217;s postseason ACME run continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SCOTT TRUXELL\/<\/strong><em>independent sports editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p>ELIDA &#8212; In tournament play, sometimes it\u2019s not necessarily the best team that wins, but rather a team playing its best ball of the season.<\/p>\n<p>That just may be the case with the Crestview Knights.<\/p>\n<p>After a 4-9 regular season, the Knights have put together four straight wins and will play for a spot in the ACME state tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Trailing 4-3 entering the bottom of the sixth, Crestview scored three runs, including RBI doubles by Caden Hurless and Dylan Hicks that plated Brant Richardson and Hurless, then held off Shawnee for a 6-4 district opener victory on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Richardson earned the complete game victory on the mound.<\/p>\n<p>The Knights followed up in even more dramatic fashion on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Down 4-3 in a back and forth affair, Derek Stout\u2019s two-RBI single scored Riley Saylor and Hurless to complete a stunning 5-4 walk off win over the Elida Bulldogs.<\/p>\n<p>Crestview is scheduled to play again tonight, and a win would send the Knights to the ACME state tournament\u00a0<em>(see above story)<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SCOTT TRUXELL\/independent sports editor ELIDA &#8212; In tournament play, sometimes it\u2019s not necessarily the best team that wins, but rather a team playing its best ball of the season.
