{"id":9025,"date":"2011-06-07T14:09:20","date_gmt":"2011-06-07T19:09:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=9025"},"modified":"2011-06-07T14:09:20","modified_gmt":"2011-06-07T19:09:20","slug":"harrell-austin-barnhart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2011\/06\/07\/harrell-austin-barnhart\/","title":{"rendered":"Harrell Austin Barnhart"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Harrell Austin Barnhart, 84, of Van Wert, died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2011, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8711\" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/American-Flag-for-obituaries-6-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"66\" \/>He was born February 12, 1927, in Firebrick, the son of the late Allie E. Sr. and Thelma Opal (Leonard) Barnhart. On February 10, 1946, he married Jacqueline (Scarpelli) Barnhart, who preceded him in death on July 7, 1999. He then married Alice (Custer) Johns on September 12, 2002, and she survives in Van Wert.<\/p>\n<p>Other survivors include a son, Ron (Tania) Barnhart of Van Wert; two brothers, William (Evelyn) Barnhart and James H. (Carol) Barnhart, both of Van Wert; five sisters, Betty Jewell, Ellen (Ed) Grimes, Janet (Don) Risley, and Karen (Dennis) Stout, all of Van Wert, and Rosalie (Art) Miller of Defiance; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.<\/p>\n<p>A son, Lin Austin Barnhart; three brothers, Allie Barnhart Jr., Bobby Barnhart and Delbert L. Barnhart; and three sisters, Ceola Ferna Shindeldecker, Arbadella Coresell and Loretta Rader, also preceded him in death.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at the Van Wert Apostolic Church, with the Rev. Robert Frake officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Cowan &amp; Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preferred memorials: Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center, c\/o Community Health Professionals, 1159 Westwood Drive, Van Wert, OH 45891; or Van Wert Apostolic Church.<\/p>\n<p>Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cowanfuneralhome.com\">www.cowanfuneralhome.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Harrell Austin Barnhart, 84, of Van Wert, died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2011, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
