{"id":90537,"date":"2017-07-20T08:01:40","date_gmt":"2017-07-20T13:01:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=90537"},"modified":"2017-07-20T08:01:40","modified_gmt":"2017-07-20T13:01:40","slug":"united-way-names-2017-campaign-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2017\/07\/20\/united-way-names-2017-campaign-chair\/","title":{"rendered":"United Way names 2017 campaign chair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>VW independent\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>United Way of Van Wert County Executive Director Vicki Smith announced that Pat Crummey has been named the 2017 campaign chair.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_90538\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-90538\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-90538\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Pat-Crummey-headshot-7-2017.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"253\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-90538\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Pat Crummey<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI am looking forward to working with Pat this year as we celebrate United Way\u2019s 95th anniversary,\u201d said Smith. \u201cPat brings a lot of passion to the campaign chair role; he has been a strong leader in our community with his involvement and volunteerism with the youth sports programs sponsored through the YMCA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPat has brought some great ideas to the campaign committee and has involved everyone in the process,\u201d she added. \u201cIt is going to be fun to see the excitement generated with this year\u2019s campaign theme.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Crummey has been a member of the board for the past six years. He first joined the United Way Board of Trustees in 2012 and then the Executive Board in 2016. He has been a member-at-large, the Day of Caring chair, and is now campaign chair.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to make this year\u2019s campaign theme, \u2018Community Heroes\u2019, about everyone who helps or can help the United Way fulfill its mission; whether that comes from monetary donations, championing our efforts, or volunteering at any of our agencies or events,\u201d Crummey noted.\u00a0\u201cWe want this to be a call to action to show that even through little efforts anyone can be a hero for our community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to have added Alliance Automation as a \u2018community partner\u2019 to keep helping our campaign grow,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Crummey is a senior development analyst at Central Mutual Insurance Company.
