This annual program of the American Legion gives the delegates first hand opportunity to learn the workings of government on city, county, and state levels.<\/p>\n<p>Delegates attending from Van Wert High School are Robert Laing, son of Dr. Kevin Laing, DDS, and Barb Laing; A.J. Thomas, son of Keith and Jill Thomas; Thad W. Davis, son of Kathleen Davis; Vincent Moreland, son of Mariea Moreland; Adam Foster, son of John and Laura Foster; and Jack Moonshower, son of Mark and Cara Moonshower.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Robert Laing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Robert is a member of Symphonic, marching, and pep bands (three years) and received Solo and Ensemble Contest Superior rating (three years) He was a member of the Beta Club (two years), Concert Choir (one year), Drama Club (two years), Scholastic Bowl (three years), and National Honor Society (one year). He was class president (freshman and junior year). Robert is an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and its youth group. He has been a Boy Scout for six years and will soon be completing his Eagle Scout requirements. He has been a member of the Order of DeMolay (six years) where he has held various district and state offices. He is currently deputy state master councilor and will be state master councilor in 2011-2012. He is a Renaissance cardholder (three years), on the A-B Honor Roll (three years), and an academic letter winner (three years).<\/p>\n<p><strong>A.J. Thomas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A.J. was involved in band, choir, Drama Club, and Student Council. He was a Renaissance gold cardholder and a member of DeMolay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thad Davis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thad was a member of Van Wert varsity soccer team (letter), Drama Club, choir, and was on the Scholastic Bowl team. He was a youth leader and on his church worship team.<\/p>\n<p><strong><!--more-->Vincent Moreland<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Vincent has been involved in football (one year), golf (two years), baseball (three years), and wrestling (two years). He was a member of Beta Club (two years), National Honor Society (one year), and German Club (two years). Vincent was a Renaissance cardholder (three years) and received academic letters (two years), the scholar-athlete award (three years), and Cougar of the Match award for wrestling (2008-09). He worked for Van Wert Parks Department (summers 2009-2010), and was responsible for umpiring softball and baseball games and preparing the fields for games, He is a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church\u2019s youth group (four years). He did tutoring while attending Van Wert Middle School.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adam Foster<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Adam is involved in soccer, swimming, track, and Quiz Bowl. He was a member of the district soccer team, and sectional swim team. He is a state band participant. Adam is active in his church youth group and is a member of DeMolay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jack Moonshower<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jack has participated in football (one year), soccer (three years), and basketball (three years). Jack has been a member of Beta Club (two years), choir (three years), Spanish Club (two years), and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (two years). He is a Renaissance cardholder (three years), was a scholar-athlete (three years), was \u201cMost Improved Player\u201d for soccer (2009), received All-District honorable mention for soccer (2010), and was a member of sectional champion soccer team (2010). Jack is member of the Ohio City United Methodist youth group and a volunteer for Upward Soccer.<\/p>\n<p>The delegates from Lincolnview High School are Levi Brake, son of George and Kathy Brake; Brandon Lippi, son of Donald and Teresa Lippi; and Brandon Jacomet, son of Bret Jacomet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Levi Brake<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Levi\u2019s school activities at Lincolnview include band, Science Club, wrestling, track and field, cross country, Drama Club, Beta Club, Spanish Club, and Student Council. He is a member of his church youth group and Vacation Bible School group leader. He belongs to the Annual Piano Guild. Levi received varsity letters, was a scholar-athlete, and received a national level piano guild award. He is sponsored by Venedocia Lions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brandon J. Lippi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brandon is a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and is active in its youth group. Brandon is a member of Boy Scout Troop 35 in Van Wert and is an Eagle Scout. He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and was Boy Scout junior assistant scoutmaster. He did community service and volunteer work at Toys 4 Tots, Special Olympics, and The Salvation Army. He has received many awards in scouting. Brandon has been a member of Beta Club, Spanish Club, and Science Club. He received an award for perfect school attendance and for being an outstanding math student. He worked on the Boy Scout Camp Lakota Summer staff in 2009. He will be sponsored by Middle Point Amvets post.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brandon Jacomet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brandon is involved in track, cross country, Beta Club, Spanish Club, and Science Club. He did tutoring at the YMCA, and works at McDonald\u2019s. Brandon received letters in track and cross country and holds the school record for the pole vault.<\/p>\n<p>The delegates from Vantage Career Center are Austin Eschbach, son of Jason Eschbach of Parkway; and Jacob Puthoff, son of Greg and Jenifer Putoff of Parkway.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Austin Eschbach<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Austin is involved in cross country, track and is a member of Scholastic Bowl team. He participated in Relay for Life and is a member of the Drama Club. He is on the honor roll.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jacob Puthoff<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jacob is involved in Robotics Team, Science Club, and Business Professionals of America. He is a member of his church youth group. Jacob is on the honor roll, was \u201cStudent of the Month,\u201d and placed first in national robotics competition 2010. He currently has his Arrow of Light and is a Brother member of the Order of the Arrow. He has completed his Eagle Scout project and is a candidate for Eagle rank. Jacob is a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and has assisted with many jobs at the church, including moving church items to prepare church for reception for the bishop. He has served as Vantage tour guide for eighth grade students. Jacob assists in the Parkway after-school tutoring program. His summer job is computer-technology assistant at Parkway Schools, 2010-2011.<\/p>\n<p>The delegate from Crestview is Dallis Gibson, son of Berry and Angie Gibson of Convoy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dallis Gibson<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dallis is involved in basketball (three years), football (three years), and FFA. He was FFA treasurer and also was on the honor roll.<\/p>\n<p>American Legion Post 346 of Ohio City sponsors delegates Adam Foster and Jack Moonshower.<\/p>\n<p>All other delegates are sponsored by Isaac Van Wert Post 178 of the American Legion, with financial assistance provided by Van Wert Service Club, Van Wert Legion 40 et 8, Middle Point Amvets, Venedocia Lions Club, and Sons of the American Legion (SAL).<\/p>\n<p>Buckeye Boys State, operated by the Department of Ohio American Legion, is a government workshop that teaches responsibilities of citizenship in a two-party political system.
