The Golden Bears have won eight of the previous 10 matchups. However, I\u2019ll take a small leap of faith and go with Van Wert in this one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Crestview<\/strong> at Parkway: Parkway should be an improved team this season, but I believe the Knights have too many weapons for the Panthers. Crestview wins.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wayne Trace<\/strong> at Paulding: This was one of the area\u2019s better games last season, with the Raiders winning 28-23. Wayne Trace returns a number of players, while Paulding lost some key players to graduation. I\u2019ll go with Wayne Trace.<\/p>\n<p>Shawnee at <strong>Delphos Jefferson<\/strong>: This game was supposed to be played at Shawnee, but was switched due to poor field conditions. The change of venue shouldn\u2019t matter, Delphos Jefferson wins.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Delphos St. John\u2019s<\/strong> at Toledo Woodward: With 18 returning letter winners, I\u2019m going with the Blue Jays in this non-conference matchup.<\/p>\n<p>Other games:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Napoleon<\/strong> at Defiance, Allen East at <strong>Bath<\/strong>, Celina at <strong>Versailles<\/strong>, Tiffin Columbian at<strong> Elida<\/strong>, Kenton at <strong>Coldwater<\/strong>, <strong>Ottawa-Glandorf<\/strong> at Eastwood, Bellefontaine at <strong>Wapakoneta<\/strong>, St. Mary\u2019s Memorial at <strong>Sidney<\/strong>, <strong>Ada<\/strong> at USV, Cory-Rawson at<strong> Bluffton<\/strong>, <strong>Pandora-Gilboa<\/strong> at Columbus Grove, <strong>Spencerville<\/strong> at Lima Central Catholic, <strong>Arlington<\/strong> at Anna, Lehman Catholic at <strong>Fort Recovery<\/strong>, Chaminade Julieanne at <strong>Marion Local<\/strong>, Fort Loramie at <strong>Minster<\/strong>, Bradford at <strong>New Bremen<\/strong>, Covington at <strong>St. Henry<\/strong>, <strong>Montpelier<\/strong> at Antwerp, <strong>Ayersville<\/strong> at Edon, <strong>Edgerton<\/strong> at Hilltop, Wauseon at<strong> Fairview<\/strong>, <strong>Archbold<\/strong> at Hicksville, Holgate at <strong>North<\/strong> <strong>Baltimore<\/strong>, <strong>Liberty Center<\/strong> at Tinora.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SCOTT TRUXELL\/independent sports editor Welcome to the Van Wert independent\u2019s first installment of \u201cPigskin Pick \u2019Em.\u201d Each week during the season, I\u2019ll offer projected winners of games involving teams from the Western Buckeye League and the Northwest Conference, along with select other games from around the area.
