I was able to correctly pick 22 (76 percent) of those games, which is good but not great. I did predict the Van Wert Cougars would defeat Bryan, but I was notably off on some other games, including Shawnee\/Delphos Jefferson and Spencerville\/Lima Central Catholic.<\/p>\n<p>On to week two predictions (projected winner in <strong>bold<\/strong>):<\/p>\n<p>Wapakoneta at <strong>Van Wert<\/strong>: On paper, Wapakoneta probably should be considered the favorite in this game. However, I\u2019ll go out on a limb and say the Cougars will find a way to win, and improve to 2-0 on the season.<\/p>\n<p>Hicksville at <strong>Crestview<\/strong>: Hicksville has some nice athletes, but the Knights have to be considered the favorite to win their home opener.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Versailles<\/strong> at Delphos Jefferson: This is a tough game for the Wildcats. I\u2019ll have to go with the Tigers in this one.<\/p>\n<p>Lima Central Catholic at <strong>Delphos St. John\u2019s<\/strong>: This Saturday matchup is an intriguing one. I like the Blue Jays in a close one.<\/p>\n<p>Other games: <strong>Elida<\/strong> at Bath,<strong> Kenton<\/strong> at Celina, Shawnee at<strong> Defiance<\/strong>, <strong>St. Marys<\/strong> at Ottawa-Glandorf, <strong>Ada<\/strong> at Arlington, Perry at <strong>Allen East<\/strong>, Van Buren at <strong>Bluffton<\/strong>, <strong>Leipsic<\/strong> at Columbus Grove, <strong>Fairview<\/strong> at Paulding, Parkway at <strong>Spencerville<\/strong>, <strong>Anna<\/strong> at Brookville, <strong>Coldwater<\/strong> at Clinton-Massie, <strong>Fort Recovery<\/strong> at Valley View, <strong>Marion Local<\/strong> at Patrick Henry, <strong>Minster<\/strong> at Covington, <strong>New Breman<\/strong> at Mississinawa Valley, <strong>St. Henry<\/strong> at Eaton, <strong>Antwerp<\/strong> at Hilltop, <strong>Ayersville<\/strong> at Ottawa Hills, Edon at <strong>Edgerton<\/strong>, Holgate at <strong>Waynesfield-Goshen<\/strong>, Tinora at <strong>Wauseon<\/strong>, Eastmoor Academy at <strong>Lima Sr<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SCOTT TRUXELL\/independent sports editor Week No. 1 of the high school football season is in the books, along with my predictions for 29 area games.
