The resolution will be voted on the House floor today.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to training, the resolution tasks the Committee on House Administration with issuing regulations to ensure compliance and transparency within 30 days of its enactment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sexual\u00a0harassment\u00a0cases that have come to light in the previous weeks has shown the need to have strong rules and protocols in place to prevent this sort of behavior in Congress,\u201d\u00a0said Latta.\u00a0\u201cThis\u00a0resolution\u00a0takes the first step toward this effort by establishing mandatory\u00a0anti-harassment\u00a0training\u00a0that all Members of Congress and staff must complete.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe\u00a0resolution\u00a0also makes clear the rights and protections employees have in the workplace,\u201d Latta added. \u201cIn addition,\u00a0I\u2019m alarmed by the lack of transparency regarding the use of taxpayer money in the payments of harassment settlements.\u00a0The public expects that elected officials will adhere to high standards, and the use of\u00a0undisclosed\u00a0taxpayer money from secret funds to pay sexual\u00a0harassment\u00a0settlements is unconscionable.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Submitted information WASHINGTON, D.C.\u00a0&#8212;\u00a0U.S. Representative Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) has co-sponsored a\u00a0resolution\u00a0to require anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training for all\u00a0Congressional\u00a0employees, including Members of Congress.
