Highlights include the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Events and Programming:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leadership Van Wert County: Nineteen 2017 graduates. Class project raised close to $18,500 to build a school bus shelter at the former Washington Elementary School site<\/li>\n<li>95th Annual Dinner: 325 attendees (a sell-out)<\/li>\n<li>Leadercast: 350 attended the one-day simulcast event featuring world-renowned leadership experts.<\/li>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-33749\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/VW-Chamber-logo-3-19-10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"98\" \/>Chamber Golf Classic: 140 golfers (a sell-out)<\/li>\n<li>Van Wert Business Expo &amp; Taste of Van Wert County: 34 businesses participated (sell-out), More than 1,200 people attended.<\/li>\n<li>Salute to Small Business Luncheon: 180 attendees<\/li>\n<li>Networking events: 475 attendees at various networking events such as Chamber Coffees, Business After Hours and the Van Wert Leads Forum<\/li>\n<li>Van Wert Area Safety Council and OSHA seminars for area businesses: 620 attendees took part in workplace safety and wellness education programming.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ribboncuttings: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Laudick\u2019s Jewelry &#8212; new ownership<\/li>\n<li>Family Health Care of Northwest Ohio &#8212; new facility and new Dental Center<\/li>\n<li>Occupational Health Center &#8212; new expansion at Van Wert County Hospital<\/li>\n<li>Salvation Army &#8212; new facility<\/li>\n<li>133 Bistro &#8212; new business<\/li>\n<li>The Harvest House &#8212; new business<\/li>\n<li>Goodwill &#8212; new facility<\/li>\n<li>Van Wert Manor &#8212; New assisted living center<\/li>\n<li>Pet Valu &#8212; new business<\/li>\n<li>Children\u2019s bus shelter at former Washington School Site &#8212; Chamber Leadership Class project<\/li>\n<li>Pregnancy Life Center Health Clinic &#8212; new expansion and services<\/li>\n<li>Humble Bumble &#8212; new location<\/li>\n<li>Van Wert Historical Society &#8212; new expansion<\/li>\n<li>Chief Grocery Store &#8212; new business ownership (formerly Marsh Grocery)<\/li>\n<li>Van Wert County Fair<\/li>\n<li>Van Wert Apple Festival<\/li>\n<li>The Curvy Closet &#8212; new business<\/li>\n<li>Vantage Career Center CDL program &#8212; expansion and new program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent\/submitted information The Van Wert Area Chamber of Commerce listed some of the highlights of 2017, its 95th year, with President\/CEO Susan Munroe noting that more than 3,300 people attended Chamber events during the year.
