{"id":97055,"date":"2018-01-01T16:26:10","date_gmt":"2018-01-01T21:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=97055"},"modified":"2018-01-01T21:24:54","modified_gmt":"2018-01-02T02:24:54","slug":"jay-lewis-lang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2018\/01\/01\/jay-lewis-lang\/","title":{"rendered":"Jay Lewis Laing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jay Lewis Laing, 2, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017, at the Van Wert County Hospital Emergency Room in Van Wert.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_97056\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-97056\" style=\"width: 275px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Jay-Laing-obit-photo-1-2018.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-97056\" height=\"385\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-97056\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Jay Lewis Laing<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jay was born on August 31, 2015, in Columbus, to Michael and Jayme (Weller) Laing, who both survive.<\/p>\n<p>Other survivors include a brother, Gabriel Laing of Columbus; a sister Ava Courtney; maternal grandparents, Jay (Louise) Weller of Republic and Kathy Ink (King) \u200bof Attica; paternal grandparents\u200b\u200b, Dr. Kevin and Barbara Laing of Van Wert; \u200bmaternal great-grandfather, Lewis King of Attica (Move); one aunt, Courtney Weller of Republic; a step-aunt, Ashley Drown of Haskins; one uncle, Robert Laing of Columbus; a step-uncle Dan Engle of Findlay; a great-aunt, Jayne Weller; and a cousin, Pam Weller of Republic. Jay is also survived by numerous \u200bgreat \u200baunts,\u200bgreat\u200b uncles, and \u200bsecond\u200b cousins.<\/p>\n<p>Jay was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother\u200b\u200b, Mary King; maternal great grandparents\u200b, Jay and June Weller; paternal great-grandparents\u200b\u200b, Dr. Robert and Meri Laing and William and Ruth McGuire.<\/p>\n<p>Jay was a \u200bvery\u200b sweet, \u200bcaring, well-mannered, \u200band high-spirited young \u200bboy\u200b. He always \u200bhad the biggest smile on his face with sparkling blue eyes staring right back at you,\u200b and \u200bwas \u200bfull of \u200bso much \u200blove. Jay \u200benjoyed giving hugs and smooches (with Eskimos)\u200b, \u200bloved to play hide-go-seek, and wrestle with his Bubbie and Sissy.\u200b \u200bJay was an active youth member of the United States Trotting Association\u200b \u200band enjoyed\u200b \u200btraveling all over Ohio to the county fairs as The Weller Stables \u201cofficial mascot and bucket scrubber,\u201d with \u201ceveryone has to start somewhere\u201d being his motto\u200b. \u200bHe always loved\u200b helping in the barn and \u200bhe would always walk to all 11 stall doors and say \u201cgood morning, neighs\u201d. He would light up with pride, with the joke of them being called\u200b \u200bBaby (just recently, moved up to Little) Jay\u2019s) \u200bNeighs\u200b. Jay \u200balways\u200b brought great joy \u200band plenty of amusement \u200bto anyone he ever met, \u200band by the time they left him, he would already be their buddy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funeral services for Jay will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 6, at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. Ohio 19 in Bloomville, with Randell Morrison officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday, January 5, at the funeral home. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in c\/o the funeral home.
