{"id":97288,"date":"2018-01-08T08:48:10","date_gmt":"2018-01-08T13:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=97288"},"modified":"2018-01-09T08:50:20","modified_gmt":"2018-01-09T13:50:20","slug":"beckem-eversole-is-vw-hospitals-2018-new-years-baby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2018\/01\/08\/beckem-eversole-is-vw-hospitals-2018-new-years-baby\/","title":{"rendered":"VW hospital fetes 2018 New Year&#8217;s Baby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>DAVE MOSIER\/<\/strong><em>independent editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The New Year\u2019s Baby came a little bit later than usual at Van Wert County Hospital as Beckem Ryder Eversole was born this past Thursday.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_97289\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-97289\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-97289\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Ryanne-Eversole-and-Beckem-1-6-18.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"291\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-97289\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>New mother Ryanne Eversole with Van Wert County Hospital&#8217;s New Year&#8217;s Baby, Beckem Ryder.<\/strong> <em>Dave Mosier\/Van Wert independent<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Beckem, the son of Ryanne Eversole and Thomas Lantow, was born at 6:37 p.m. Thursday and weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces at birth.<\/p>\n<p>Eversole said the birth of her son, who is her first child, was difficult, but the happiest moment of her life so far.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never cried for joy anytime in my life until he came out,\u201d the new mother said during an interview on Saturday. \u201cEarlier today, I was looking at him and I got happy and started crying. That\u2019s a moment you just wait for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eversole, who said Beckem\u2019s birth has put her life back on track, added that she\u2019s a little unsure of what the future will bring, but that her family has been very supportive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s kind of scary, a newborn baby,\u201d she added. \u201cI think the scariest part is just moving forward with everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As a single mother who still lives with her parents, Eversole said that, while things are a bit unsettled at the moment, she thanked her family for being there for her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy mom\u2019s been super helpful with this (and) so has my dad; he\u2019s been super accepting of the situation,\u201d the new mother said. \u201cMy little sister is still in the house, so she\u2019s excited to have a baby in the house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Eversole said it was a pretty uneventful pregnancy, although the delivery didn\u2019t go quite as smoothly. She said her water broke at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, and she was given an epidural to ease the pain of her contractions about 10 a.m. Unfortunately, the epidural had worn off by the time Eversole had Beckem at 6:37 that evening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt everything!\u201d she said of the birth procedure. \u201cI was tired and exhausted, but I definitely cried for joy even afterward. It was a happy moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eversole said Beckem has been a good baby so far, though, and she\u2019s happy he is the New Year\u2019s Baby, noting that several other women had also been admitted to the hospital\u2019s Maternity Department around the time she came in.<\/p>\n<p>Van Wert County Hospital provides a number of gifts to the New Year\u2019s Baby, including diapers and wipes, baby bath products, baby toys, teething products, board books, a stroller organizer, and bibs, as well as gift cards to Walmart and several local restaurants, including Brewed Expressions, Subway, and Wild Willy\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Eversole said she is excited about seeing her baby grow up and all the \u201cfirsts\u201d that will come along the way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe hasn\u2019t smiled yet, so I\u2019m looking forward to seeing him smile,\u201d Eversole said, noting that Beckem was the first boy born in her family in quite a while.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAVE MOSIER\/independent editor The New Year\u2019s Baby came a little bit later than usual at Van Wert County Hospital as Beckem Ryder Eversole was born this past Thursday.
