{"id":97790,"date":"2018-01-22T00:01:05","date_gmt":"2018-01-22T05:01:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=97790"},"modified":"2018-01-21T20:08:29","modified_gmt":"2018-01-22T01:08:29","slug":"lview-lancers-rout-antwerp-56-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2018\/01\/22\/lview-lancers-rout-antwerp-56-30\/","title":{"rendered":"L&#8217;view Lancers rout Antwerp 56-30"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SCOTT TRUXELL\/<\/strong><em>independent sports editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p>ANTWERP &#8212; A strong all around game put the finishing touches on a successful weekend for the Lincolnview Lancers.<\/p>\n<p>On the heels of a big win over Allen East on Friday, Lincolnview (8-5) held the host Antwerp Archers to single digits in three of four quarters and used balanced scoring to leave with a 56-30 non-conference win on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_97788\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-97788\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-97788\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/CadenRingwald1-22-18.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"442\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-97788\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Caden Ringwald scored 16 points against Antwerp.<\/strong> <em>Bob Barnes\/file photo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The game was tied at eight with 2:20 left in the first quarter, but the Lancers went on a 20-3 scoring run that carried deep into the second period. Alek Bowersock started the run with a triple, followed by a free throw and a buzzer beater by Caden Ringwald to put the Lancers up 14-8 at the end of the first quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Ethan Kemler opened the second quarter with back-to-back buckets, then Zane Miller drained a three pointer that gave the Lancers a 21-8 lead just over three minutes into the period.<\/p>\n<p>After a timeout, Antwerp\u2019s Luke Brewer nailed a triple, but Ringwald hit two foul shots then Chayten Overholt and Bowersock each hit baskets to push Lincolnview\u2019s lead to 28-11. Cole Seslar got the Archers (5-6) back on the board with a basket at the 1:39 mark, but Ringwald and Bowersock each connected from the floor to give Lincolnview a 32-13 halftime lead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought we did a fantastic job in the first half by forcing them into difficult shots and I thought we did a great job of forcing one shot and done,\u201d Lincolnview head coach Brett Hammons said. \u201cI think our defense led to a lot of our offense, getting out and running and getting easy baskets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Hammons also singled out the play of Kemler, who finished the night with 12 points, three rebounds and three blocked shots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s doing a very good job and he\u2019s one of the leaders on the defense,\u201d Hammons explained. \u201cHe\u2019s a very intelligent basketball player and we continue to get the ball into him, I think it\u2019s going to help our guards more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brewer opened the third quarter with a bucket, but Tristin Miller countered with a basket, then Ringwald hit two more buckets to extend Lincolnview\u2019s lead to 38-15. From there, the Lancers went on a 9-3 run, with Kemler, Overholt, Zane Miller and Ringwald accounting for Lincolnview\u2019s points, while Antwerp mustered a free throw from Jayvin Landers and a basket by Ty Rebber.<\/p>\n<p>With a 47-18 lead, a triple by Ringwald was sandwiched between two free throws by Rebber and triples by Landers and Brewer.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth quarter scoring was sparse, with Overholt, Kemler and Jake Bowersock each hitting a basket to account for Lincolnview\u2019s six points, while the Achers scored just four points on Blake Schuette\u2019s bucket and free throws by Brewer and Jake Ryan.<\/p>\n<p>Ringwald paced the Lancers with 16 points, including nine in the third quarter. Along with Kemler\u2019s 12 points, Alek Bowersock and Zane Miller each had seven.<\/p>\n<p>Brewer was the only Archer to reach double figures (11).<\/p>\n<p>Lincolnview will host Delphos Jefferson on Friday and Parkway on Saturday.
