{"id":97833,"date":"2018-01-22T09:27:26","date_gmt":"2018-01-22T14:27:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=97833"},"modified":"2018-01-22T09:27:26","modified_gmt":"2018-01-22T14:27:26","slug":"twig-ii-group-holds-january-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2018\/01\/22\/twig-ii-group-holds-january-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Twig II group holds January meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>VW independent\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Twenty-three members of TWIG II braved the weather and met on Monday, January 8, in the Van Wert County Hospital\u2019s Conference Room A.\u00a0They were greeted by Shirley Lichty.\u00a0After the invocation by Connie Hart, a soup and salad luncheon was provided by the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Sharon Witten introduced the speaker, Dawn Rhoades, R.N., director of women\u2019s health at the hospital.\u00a0\u00a0She talked to the group about winter safety and the importance of using good sense about keeping warm.\u00a0Of course, if a person\u2019s circulation is impaired, or as people age, they will feel the cold more, but people can take steps to counteract this.<\/p>\n<p>Remember to turn off heating vents in rooms not used.\u00a0Wear loose, layered clothing.\u00a0Make sure smoke\/carbon monoxide detectors are working. It is recommended that the temperature in one\u2019s home or living quarters should not be lower than 68 degrees at this time of year.\u00a0A\u00a0big chill or feeling cold all the time could turn into hyperthermia, which means that a person\u2019s body temperature core has dropped to 95 degrees. If people\u2019s hands and feet are cold all the time, they need to check their temperature.\u00a0It could be the result of other health issues. Spring is on the way.<\/p>\n<p>Co-chair Kathy Keysor opened the business meeting.\u00a0The roll call response was \u201cwhat is your favorite exercise?\u201d\u00a0Responses ranged from elliptical machines to talking, with the majority reporting walking as their favorite exercise.\u00a0Reports were given and approved.\u00a0Twig II poinsettias, delivered last month, were lovely, and sales were very good.\u00a0Group members appreciate all those who supported them.<\/p>\n<p>Members present were Robbin Benner, Diana Crow, Judy Fox, Del Free, Nancy Gribler, Diane Haller, Connie Hart, Linda Heath, Judy Jackson, Ella Jackson, Arlene Keysor, Kathy Keysor, Shirley Lichty, Judy Linton, Joy McCleery, Bev Mercer, Corinne Mowry, Sue Price, Linda Sidle, Katy Sill, Shirley Soldner, Barb Sunderland, and Sharon Witten.<\/p>\n<p>The next meeting will be Monday, February 12, with a program on \u201cWomen\u2019s Heart health.\u201d\u00a0The hostess will be Arlene Keysor and Deb Yackee will give the invocation.\u00a0The roll call response will be \u201cwhat makes your heart race?\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent\/submitted information Twenty-three members of TWIG II braved the weather and met on Monday, January 8, in the Van Wert County Hospital\u2019s Conference Room A.\u00a0They were greeted by Shirley Lichty.\u00a0After the invocation by Connie Hart, a soup and salad luncheon was provided by the hospital.
