{"id":99176,"date":"2018-02-26T08:13:52","date_gmt":"2018-02-26T13:13:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=99176"},"modified":"2018-02-26T08:14:09","modified_gmt":"2018-02-26T13:14:09","slug":"lady-lancers-are-sectional-champs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2018\/02\/26\/lady-lancers-are-sectional-champs\/","title":{"rendered":"Lady Lancers are sectional champions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Van Wert independent sports<\/em><\/p>\n<p>PAULDING &#8212; Lincolnview clamped down defensively in the fourth quarter, and the Lady Lancers held on to defeat Northwest Conference rival Delphos Jefferson 35-33 in the lower bracket Division IV sectional championship game at Paulding High School on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-62438\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Lincolnview-Lancer-logo-4-2015.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Lincolnview (12-12) held the Wildcats to just three points in the final period, and used late foul shots by Sierra Adams and Olivia Gorman to break a 33-33 tie and secure the victory.<\/p>\n<p>The two teams found themselves deadlocked at 11 after the first quarter, and Lincolnview led 24-20 at halftime. Delphos Jefferson outscored the Lady Lancers 10-6 in the third quarter and the game was tied at 30 entering the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Lincolnview\u2019s Maddie Gorman led all scorers with 14 points, while Alena Looser and Lakin Brant each finished with six. Alli McClurg led Delphos Jefferson with 12 points.<\/p>\n<p>The Lady Lancers (12-12) will play second ranked Ottoville in the district semifinals at Elida on at 8 p.m. on Thursday night.
