Nine people appeared over the past week for criminal hearings in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court, including a Van Wert man sentenced on a charge of domestic violence.<\/p>\n

Johnathon McBride, 23, received a five-year term of community control a week ago Thursday, plus up to six months in the Western Ohio Regional Treatment and Habilitation (WORTH) Center in Lima after pleading guilty to domestic violence, a felony of the fourth degree. McBride must also undergo substance abuse and mental health assessments and complete any treatment recommended.<\/p>\n

\"\"On Friday, Juan Maldonado, 35, of Lima, entered a not guilty plea to a charge of trafficking in marijuana, a fourth degree felony offense, during an arraignment hearing in Common Pleas Court. He was released on a personal surety bond and will appear for a pretrial conference at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 7.<\/p>\n

Two people appeared Monday for change of plea hearings.<\/p>\n

Thomas Buckner Jr., 42, of Ohio City, changed his plea to guilty to one count each of illegal manufacturing of drugs, a felony of the first degree, and child endangering, a third-degree felony offense. Judge Martin Burchfield ordered a presentenced investigation and scheduled sentencing for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15.<\/p>\n

Reanne Jordan, 19, of Ohio City, changed her plea to guilty to a prosecutor\u2019s bill of information charging her with obstructing justice, a felony of the fifth degree. Other pending charges were dismissed in exchange for her guilty plea on the obstruction charge. A presentence investigation will be conducted and Jordan will be sentenced on 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 28.<\/p>\n

A Van Wert man received probation and time in the WORTH Center during a sentencing hearing held Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Paige, 34, was given five years of community control, including up to six months in the WORTH Center, on a charge of trespass in a habitation, a felony of the fourth degree. Paige was also required to undergo substance abuse and mental health assessments and follow any recommendations for treatment. He is also to have no contact with the victim in the case and obey a civil protection order granted to the victim.<\/p>\n

Three people appeared Wednesday for bond violation hearings.<\/p>\n

Nathan Egly, 32, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, denied violating his bond by failing to appear for a hearing. Judge Burchfield set a hearing in the matter for 10 a.m. March 7 and set a $20,000 cash\/commercial surety bond in the case.<\/p>\n

Rex Keysor, 48, of Van Wert, admitted to violating his bond by being arrested for another crime. A $20,000 cash\/commercial surety bond was set in the case and Keysor will appear for a pretrial conference at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 14.<\/p>\n

Nowelle Finger, 26, of Van Wert, denied violating her bond by failing a drug test. A hearing was set in the case for 10:30 a.m. March 7 and a $20,000 cash\/commercial surety bond was set.<\/p>\n

Also Wednesday, Emily Caton, 37, of Franklin, changed her plea to guilty to a prosecutor\u2019s bill of information charging her with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Sentencing was scheduled for 9 a.m. March 28.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
