{"id":99567,"date":"2018-03-07T09:20:52","date_gmt":"2018-03-07T14:20:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=99567"},"modified":"2018-03-07T09:20:52","modified_gmt":"2018-03-07T14:20:52","slug":"crestview-spends-its-rivals-united-money","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2018\/03\/07\/crestview-spends-its-rivals-united-money\/","title":{"rendered":"Crestview spends its Rivals United money"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>VW independent\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The United Way Board, in an effort to thank the Rivals United schools of\u00a0Lincolnview\u00a0and\u00a0Crestview, wanted to allow the students who led in the success of this year\u2019s contest determine what organizations would benefit from some extra donations.\u00a0Lincolnview\u00a0and\u00a0Crestview\u00a0each received $1,000 to \u201cgive back\u201d to the organizations of their choice.<\/p>\n<p>Crestview\u00a0is allocating its $1,000 between Convoy Sports Center ($300), Wren Ballpark ($300), and Crestview\u2019s new KEY Club ($400).<\/p>\n<p>The Convoy Sports Center is a volunteer board of parents that oversees the summer softball and baseball activities of children ages 5-15 years old.\u00a0The organization is grateful for the donation and thanked the\u00a0Crestview\u00a0student body. Without donations like this, it is difficult to continue improving the park property and equipment. The ballpark board noted that the park has been making huge strides each year. This year\u2019s improvement will be turning the park pavilion into a new concession stand. This worthwhile donation to Wren Ballpark helps to make the ballpark a better place for the kids!<\/p>\n<p>The KEY Club is new to the school this year, as Chelsea Taylor explains.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe KEY Club has been set up to create \u2018positivity\u2019 within the school,\u201d she noted.\u00a0\u201cSome of the projects set up with the KEY Club include \u2018Mix it Up Day\u2019, which is sit at a different table at lunch so you can meet new friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Rivals United donation will help to buy decorations,\u00a0prizes, candy, and Post It notes for the next \u201cTake What You Need Wall\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Crestview\u00a0officials noted that it was very gracious of the United Way to allow the schools to have a say in how the money will be used.<\/p>\n<p>The Rivals United fundraiser raised a total of $32,840.19 for United Way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent\/submitted information The United Way Board, in an effort to thank the Rivals United schools of\u00a0Lincolnview\u00a0and\u00a0Crestview, wanted to allow the students who led in the success of this year\u2019s contest determine what organizations would benefit from some extra donations.\u00a0Lincolnview\u00a0and\u00a0Crestview\u00a0each received $1,000 to \u201cgive back\u201d to the organizations of their choice.
