{"id":99595,"date":"2018-03-08T07:06:16","date_gmt":"2018-03-08T12:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=99595"},"modified":"2018-03-08T07:06:16","modified_gmt":"2018-03-08T12:06:16","slug":"season-wrap-up-lincolnview-lancers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2018\/03\/08\/season-wrap-up-lincolnview-lancers\/","title":{"rendered":"Season wrap-up: Lincolnview Lancers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SCOTT TRUXELL\/<\/strong><em>independent sports editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The 2017-2018\u00a0 boys&#8217; basketball season may be over for the Lincolnview Lancers, but it\u2019s fair to say it was an exciting one for players and fans.<\/p>\n<p>The season came to an end last Friday with a 60-52 loss to Wayne Trace in the Division IV sectional title game at Paulding High School. Lincolnview finished the season 16-8 (7-1 NWC), and head coach Brett Hammons said he enjoyed his time with this year\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_96629\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-96629\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-96629\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Brett-Hammons.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"213\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-96629\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Brett Hammons<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThere are a lot of things I will remember from this season,\u201d Hammons said. \u201cThings that happened on the floor to our team meals. It is just a well-rounded group. The bond this team had will be something I remember. Not every team I have had has had that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is special and to see it day in and day out was awesome. They were a joy to be around and they made coaching enjoyable every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Five seniors \u2013 Caden Ringwald, Chayten Overholt, Tristin Miller, Isiac Bowersock and Ethan Parsons \u2013 were a big part of Lincolnview\u2019s success during the season. Ringwald and Overholt were All\u2013NWC first team guards and the team\u2019s leading scorers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are a unbelievable group of young men,\u201d Hammons said of his seniors. \u201cThis group will really hurt to lose. They put a lot of time in to make not only themselves better, but their teammates better too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey all have great personalities and brought different things to the team,\u201d Hammons added. \u201cThese guys will be very successful in the next stage of life because of their work ethic. These seniors left a positive influence on this program and they will be missed.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>With an eye on next season, Hammons explained that replacing players lost to graduation won\u2019t be easy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this senior class leaving we have some spots that need to be filled and guys will have to step up to the challenge,\u201d Hammons stated. \u201cIt will not be an easy task, but we do have talent that can step in. Players from this year will have to change their roles for next year. How they adjust to those roles will help set the tone for the success we will have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Two returning players \u2013 juniors Ethan Kemler and Zane Miller \u2013 earned All-NWC honors this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe players in our program have been working hard to be successful every year,\u201d Hammons continued. \u201cI have been pleased with the growth that has been made every year. I feel that our future is bright. Kids are buying in because the success we are having at every level. It is a nice thing to see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hammons also saluted Lincolnview\u2019s fans, who came to games in full force.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur fan support is unbelievable,\u201d Hammons said. \u201cIt is the best in our area. There were away games we had more fans than the home team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo matter where we play or the record we have they come out and support us,\u201d Hammons added. \u201cI couldn\u2019t ask for better fans.
