Van Wert Police

July 25 (various times) — Several city residents reported receiving late-night automated telephone calls from the 701 area code stating that their Visa or debit card had been locked out and requesting the card number to unlock the card. Police note that anyone receiving a similar call should hang up immediately, while those who have questions should call their financial institution directly.

July 26, 2:16 a.m. — A resident of the 800 block of West Main Street reported that someone entered his residence while he was asleep and took medication.
