August 25, 3:37 p.m. — An Illinois truck driver who tried to drive around construction on South Shannon Street was cited for several violations. Christopher C. Mayerle, 38, of Itasca, Ill., was cited for criminal mischief, two counts of criminal damaging and a charge of failure to obey a traffic control device in connection with the incident. According to reports, Mayerle drove past “road closed” barricades on South Shannon Street, damaged several surveying stakes, as well as property belonging to Sav-A-Lot grocery store, 1022 S. Shannon St. He then drove onto Murphy Drive and moved barricades there before being stopped by police.

August 24, 1:46 p.m. — A resident of the 500 block of Leeson Avenue reported the theft of a GPS unit from a vehicle parked at his residence.
