Lancers prepare for the holiday season

Lincolnview Elementary sixth graders help create sheep for a local church Christmas program. Above, they work in groups to create sheep from cardboard, white stuffing and paint. (Photo submitted.)

Three Lincolnview seniors attended a meeting on Tuesday, November 15 at Trinity Friends Church to receive cash prizes given out by the Heartland Patriots of Van Wert. The seniors were Carley Springer, who won first place; Levi Brake, second place; and Curt Stewart, third place. They earned their prizes by having the top three essays on the subject of “Why the United States Constitution is relevant today”. This was a 250 word essay written by all of the seniors in Mr. Kevin Losh’s American Government class. The seniors have been covering the Constitution in their Government class for the majority of the first nine weeks.

The Beta Club would like to thank everyone who donated to the clothing drive.  We received a large amount of clothes.  The clothes were distributed during parent teacher conferences with the remainder given to area collection sites.

Lancer “6th Man” basketball jerseys and temporary tattoos are on sale now. Orders may be dropped off in the elementary and high school offices. Reversible jerseys are $17 and will be on display at parent/teacher conferences. Prices of tattoos are 20 for $5, 10 for $3, or 50 cents apiece. Show your Lancer spirit this year by purchasing your jersey and tattoos today!

Book orders are going on now in the junior high and high school. Orders may be placed at parent/teacher conferences or by sending your money to school before November 30. If this is supposed to be a Christmas gift, you may drop off your orders at school or order online with the class code of GYM3D. Contact Mrs. Sheets or Mrs. Schnipke with questions.

The Jr. High Student Council will be collecting donations for their annual Community Christmas Project the week of December 5-9.  Last year’s drive resulted in over $600 worth of monetary donations used to help five Lincolnview families.

Once again, council members Mrs. Dowdy and Mrs. Sheets, along with other staff members, will be raising money for this worthy cause by competing to see whether the council members or teachers can raise the most money. The group who raises the least will have to dress up in holiday related costumes for an entire school day before the holiday break.  All donations, big and small, are greatly appreciated and can be given to any Junior High Council Student Council member or teacher during the week of the drive.
