Van Wert Police

December 27, 11:29 a.m. — A 2-foot-long log chain and padlock was reported stolen from the U.S. Post Office building in Van Wert.

December 26, 8:10 a.m. — A break-in was reported at the Thrix Salon, 211 E. Main St. A small amount of cash was reportedly taken by the thieves.

December 26, 4:42 p.m. — Rings worth approximately  $2,000 were taken from a residence in the 1000 block of West Main Street.

December 25, 10:33 p.m. — An American History .22-caliber magnum revolver was allegedly taken from a resident in the 500 block of South Tyler Street sometime between December 8 and December 25. The handgun was described as having a 6-inch blued barrel and six-shot cylinder and was part of the Rough Rider handgun series.

Delphos Police

December 28, 4:54 a.m. — Officers are investigating a report of an accidental gunshot incident that occurred in the 800 block of Skinner Street in Delphos. According to reports, a 43-year-old Delphos man had come into the emergency room at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima with a single gunshot wound to the hand. A brief investigation indicated that the man was reportedly removing a loaded .357 magnum handgun from under his pillow, with the intention of placing the gun on his nightstand, when the gun accidentally discharged and the bullet struck him in the hand. St. Rita’s medical staff believed the man to be intoxicated when he arrived at the ER there. The incident remains under investigation.
