LV presents “Little Shop of Horrors”

"Little Shop of Horrors" will be presented at the Marsh Foundation Auditorium by Lincolnview. Here several people involved with the show gather around "Audrey," one of the main performers. (Photo submitted.)

The Lincolnview Theatre Department will present Little Shop of Horrors at the Marsh Foundation Auditorium on Saturday, March 17 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 18 at 2 p.m. Seymour, a florist assistant, works at a run-down flower shop in an area of the city called Skid Row. One day he discovers an exotic plant that not only comes to life, but also brings the flower shop back to life.   Along with the plant (that sings and eats people) a love story develops.  Funny, creepy situations abound in this show, and it is filled with a variety of music including several jazzy tunes. This is one of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time.   The students have been working very hard and the set is excellent.  This show will definitely be a night of comical, fun entertainment and a show to remember.

Several high school students, elementary students, and adult community members will be performing in this show.  High school cast and crew include the following students: Evan Williams, Mikinizie Dull, Nick Sowers, Levi Brake, Curtis Stewart, Amber Miller, Cassie Hale, Brittany Johnston, Courtney Gorman, Zoey Lippi, Caelyn Shaner, Dalton West, Courtney Wendel, Tyler Stewart, Carley Springer, Daniel Sanderson, Jacob Pollock, Ryan Lui, Brooke Lehman, Jacob Gibson, Alex Campbell, Bryce Campbell,

Lincolnview Elementary students participated in several special activities related to Read Across America Week, along with the celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday. Above, the kindergarteners enjoy wearing their Cat-in-the-Hat hats they created themselves. (Photo submitted.)

Sabrina Barnhart, Madie Enyart, Holly Diller, Ali Dickman, Melody Chen, Lucas Myers, and Chance Burnett.  Mr. Larry Keltner will be a guest performer.   The director of the show is Chad Kraner with Matt Alessandrini as the director of music, and Kinzie Dobbleare as the set artist.

Check out the progress of our rehearsals with our theatre blog entries in the blog section on the Times-Bulletin website www.timesbulletin.com.  Tickets are on sale from theatre members, by emailing ckraner@lincolnview.k12.oh.us or by calling the school.  Tickets should be available at the door.

As part of a lesson on music from different cultures of the world, second grade students in Mrs. Slusher’s music classes created “poi” and used them perform with the song “Kia Ora” which is a greeting song from the Maori people of New Zealand. The Maori people use poi to help them gain both strength and coordination.  Mrs. Slusher and the second graders would like to thank the Times Bulletin for the donation of the newspapers used to create the poi.
